Carli lloyd woke up to whimpering..... She was confused at first, so she opened her eyes and sat up to see.........
Hope Solo her best friend and best goalkeeper on the ground clenching her shoulder tightly. She had fallen, it looked like, and landed on it. Carli quickly got up and ran to her bending down whispering "Hope, what happened?!" She mumbled something so Carli asked for her to speak up. She said "Fell on my way out of the bathroom. I landed on my shoulder and it hurts so bad." she was crying also, so Carli said "Wanna sit up so I can look at the injury?" Hope sat up and said "I hate turf!" She knew Hope had been diving on turf all week and it aggravated her shoulder so much that she started icing it and having a massage for it with Carli when they had recovery days. Carli gently removed Hope's shirt and noticing the bruising so she gently said "I'm gonna go get you some ice, okay? Let's get you in bed first, though." Hope nodded and Carli was able to get Hope in bed.
The midfielder walked out of her room and down to the head trainers room. She knocked and heard shuffling before it opened and a very sleepy trainer opened the door. "Hey Carli what's up?" "Hope fell and her shoulder hurts, so I wanna know if I can get her some ice for it." That woke the trainer up. She ran and grabbed her medical bag along with ice, handing it to Carli before shutting the door and saying "I wanna check it." Carli nodded and led the trainer to her room.
Once she got to the room she noticed Hope sweating and clenching her fist trying not to move. The trainer walked over and said "Hey, Hope." "Hey." The trainer said "This is gonna hurt." Grabbing the goalkeepers arm and lifting it, which made Hope cry out. Carli got to her side and Hope laid her head on Carli's chest, sobbing in pain. Hope felt the pain go away for a moment before it came back as her arm was moved again. She cried and the trainer said "It's gonna be okay I think. It just needs rest, so the next game Ashlyn will play, okay?" The goalkeeper nodded and Carli whispered in her ear after the trainer left "So you have that pain medication that helps you sleep with you?" Hope replied "Backpack front pocket, green pills." Carli grabbed one along with a water bottle and helped Hope take it. Soon Hope was asleep, and Carli went to sleep also.
Time skip: next morning
The whole team was downstairs eating breakfast other than Carli and Hope......they the doors opened and The duo came in and they all said "Morning." Carli replied "Morning." She was supporting Hope and helping her walk, they all realized. Carli helped Hope into the chair but the number one goalkeeper cried out surprising them all and Carli immediately soothed her as the tears fell "I'm sorry Hope. I'm sorry. It's okay. It's okay." She told her and Dawn came over and said "It's gonna hurt Hope. You fell pretty hard during games and practice, plus last night probably didn't help." Hope whimpered as she tried to adjust her arm and it just made it worse. Carli kept soothing her until it clicked and she said "I'll be right back." And she took off running. Everyone was confused by now.
Carli then came running back in and was carrying something. She then grabbed a glass of water and helped Hope take a pill. Hope took it and said "Thanks." Carli nodded and said "Do you wanna tell everyone, or should I?" Hope replied "You can." Carli stood up and said "Everyone, the reason why Hope is like this is because-" She was cut off by Ashlyn saying "It's her shoulder isn't it?" Carli nodded, and everyone looked at Hope who looking in pain still. Carli then said "The turf has not been very nice to her, as you can tell, and all the diving and jumping and landing kinda beat her up. Plus, she fell last night right on it, making her in so much pain she could barley move it." Then Dawn said "That's why, until Hope is healed or cleared whichever comes first, Ashlyn and Alyssa will be your main goalkeepers." Everyone smiled at the two backups who are finally playing.
Time Skip: end of it all like the victory tour.
Hope Solo was sitting next to her best friend Carli Lloyd in the doctors office. Why she was there, you may ask? She was getting an MRI done on her shoulder along with her elbow.
The doctor came in and said "Well, Hope, it looks like you need major shoulder and elbow surgery. Possibly your knee also." Hope looked down and then at her best friend before asking "When can I do the surgery?" "Can you be here tomorrow at 7:00 AM?" Hope nodded and the 3 major surgeries were scheduled. She would be okay then afterwards.
Carli was gonna stay with her through it all since she and her husband, well now ex-husband, divorced after her saw how she was injured and still playing, and he was just being a jerk about everything.
They worked through pain together.
