Chapter 15: Choices

All of the Wonderland children stop to think. The room had gone completely silent, even the band wasn't even playing anymore.

Their home was Wonderland. But what would they do after they free themselves? Their parents always ignored them anyway... Their parents wanted them to relive their story in Wonderland as they had lived their own.

All they would do when they free Wonderland would be to stay in their parents shadow. And that's all they would ever be. They were after all, their parents. Of course, they knew that whole heartedly.

But if they stayed, they wouldn't have to. They would be able to start a new story, like everyone here was doing. Most likely never seeing their parents again, though...

"Just out of curiosity... While you guys are thinking about it..." Jay interrupts. Mal sighs thinking it's going to be a stupid question. "Why the spell book? Why didn't you steal like the Fairy Godmothers wand? It's more powerful after all." Jay asks. Mal is slightly shocked, it was a good question.

Claire, Will, and the others glance at each other for a moment and then Aaron responds. "Our parents didn't tell us much before we left... But we've come to the conclusion, they wanted this specific spell book because it wasn't completely evil-" Mal cuts Aaron off.

"But it belonged to my mother who was the mistress of evil!" Mal argues skeptically, crossing her arms. She still seemed angry but had calmed down as the room went silent.

Claire then responds to Mal, "Then she gave it to you... And you used it for both bad and good purposes. So your book is like us now... In between." Claire sighs as she says 'in between.' Ben found this strange.

"You don't have to be 'in between' anymore if the four of you stay..." Ben argues.

"No we won't. We were always destined to follow our parents!" Will yells at Ben.

"You don't have to. YOU get to choose who you are... You get to choose between good and evil. Your parents might say they haven't... That they've chosen none... But they already have, they just can't see it." Evie says trying to stand up for Ben and Mal.

"So you're saying we are just suppose to pick blindly and hope for the best?" Will scoffs.

"No... You pick now. Or you can leave with the spell book and never return to Auradon ever again. Stay right in Wonderland, where you wanted to be." Ben says raising an eyebrow. He knew he had given the four of them a hard choice... Most likely the hardest choice of their life. Stay where their parents were, where they were born, where they lived for the past 16 years... Or stay in Auradon where they could choose good, make new friends, and stay with the ones they already made and already had from Wonderland with them.

"It all depends on what makes you happy..." Mal says softly, smiling to herself slightly.

"But we can't just change our stories! Wonderland isn't suppose to get a Happy Ending!" Morgan argues. "No one ever has in Wonderland..."

"Yeah your stories have already started... But this is only your beginning. The Climax where you decide the ending. Where you decide where to go and how... This IS your choice. Not Wonderland's... Not your parents'... Not us... YOURS." Ben says, holding his hand out to wait for Claire to give him the book and wand if she chooses to do so.

Morgan is the first to speak. "I want to stay here..." She says almost in a whisper.

Aaron nods slowly and Will shrugs. "I guess we could stay here... Change is always better in Wonderland.. Change from Wonderland? That's different... But hey... WE ARE different."

Claire is silent staring at the wand and book in her hands.

"Chesh..." Morgan says. "This is where we belong..."
