"He...You...I'm sorry, how does that work?"

Right now I was a mixture of surprised, shocked, Afraid, and more than a little relieved. Why relieved? Don't ask me, because I honestly don't have a clue. Amberlynn sighed.

"When I was about seven years old, my parents were involved in a car crash. My brother and I were able to witness it firsthand as we were sitting in the back seat of the car when it had happened. Flames erupted before our eyes, and pretty soon we were all sent to a hospital nearby to recover from our wounds."

Amber fidgeted with her hands and leaned on a steel beam not far from where I was standing, still in shock from her confession. I kept quiet and decided to listen to the rest of the story.

"Our wounds healed on the outside...But my brother was devastated within. He kept believing that his parents were still in the car...And they were, but they were...You know, dead. He couldn't grasp that fact, and so he kept searching for them. I doubt he felt anything like pain or anger then...He was deeply bleeding and torn to ribbons when we found him one day in the forest. He just wouldn't stop...Eventually, he lost most of his memories...He was starting to show signs of paranoia, so we had to keep him here with hopes that one day he would recover..."

As Amber finished her story, I started to pity the patient. All he wanted to do was find his family again...But in the end, he even lost his big sister. I looked up at the red-headed girl. Her head was bowed. Her bangs were covering her face, a pathetic attempt to hide tears. Oh jeez. She was crying.

"Hey..." I said softly. hoping to cheer her up, even if just a little bit. "...I'm sure he's alright. He'll get better in no time...Just stay hopeful."

"...That was the second sappiest thing I've ever heard." Amber replied, lifting her head to show a smile in her tear-filled eyes. I was surprised at how well she could hide her emotions. Then again, she might have had a lot of practice.

"Let's go. We've been here too long, it's nearly your shift and I don't want anyone to think strange and perverted things."

I smiled, followed by a light chuckle as we made our way back to the cafeteria.

I whistled softly to myself as I sauntered through the halls in the dead of night. I held a flashlight in one hand, and my other was stuck in the pocket of my tan uniform dress pants. I was feeling less uneasy, knowing that the patient was making no attempt to drag me into his "spider web". After all, I had passed by at least three times.

Wait...I didn't see him through the window. Did that mean he was sleeping, or plotting something?

I shook my head.

"Don't be ridiculous, Josh. You're just being paranoid. It's not like you'd fall for his tricks yet again. You're not THAT gullible."

Just to be safe, I reached for the taser in my belt, only to find nothing in it's place. What!? I was sure I grabbed it last time I was in the room. Or perhaps...

I Sighed. I had to go back inside if I wanted it back. Knowing him, he was blackmailing me. And to tell the truth, I sortof wanted to see the patient. I had some questions to ask him. Of course, if he didn't kill me first.

I opened the door and gritted my teeth. I knew he was waiting for me. He always was. As I walked closer and closer to the back of the room, I bumped into something, locking lips in the dark. A small metallic device struck me roughly in the ribs, and I was on the ground and screaming in pain before I could say "Oh shit". He came down after me, his knees pinning down my arms.

"Why...Are you doing this...?" I choked out. My sides ached, and I hat hit my head pretty hard from the fall. A hand reached out to caress my cheek.

"You're just so cute in your suffering..." He whispered, grabbing the collar of my shirt. The patient yanked on the white cotton and smiled with insane glee as a button popped off and flew across the room, skittering across the floor and finally coming to a stop. He yanked again, and all at once the dress shirt popped open. I let out a startled gasp as he ran a cold finger against my skin, turning it ever so slowly until the nail started digging into the flesh of my stomach. Crimson sprang against my skin, unusualy contrasting to my pale complexion. Looking at the blood only made me feel sick. I took a sharp intake of breath as he ran his tongue across the bloody scratch, not bothering to lift his head befoe plunging something cold into my left upper arm. I screamed in agony and squinted at the thing protruding from my skin: a nail. He drove a nail into my arm. I struggled to get up from under him. Despite his light weight, he was pretty strong.

"Trying to get away...? How cute. Who will you run from? Me? Or you...Who once again bothered to come visit...You could have left your weapon here. What good would it have done me if I had nobody to use it on? But..."

He chuckled, watching my face turn two shades of red as I realized my mistake. It was my own free will that brought me here.

"...You came crawling back...Like a loyal, injured dog looking for his master..."

Another scream, and my right arm was now bleeding from a second nail. Agony struck further into my heart.

"Fuck you...You knew bloody well I had to get it back...You stole it from me." I growled, glaring at my opponent. He just chuckled. My acts of defense seemed pitiful and highly amusing to him.

"Mmm...I might have~..." He sang, examining the tip of yet another nail. "But I just wanted to see you again, Joshua~. I didn't mean any harm..."

" 'Any harm'?" I repeated, gesturing to my wounds.

Another nail was plunged into my forearm and I screamed yet again. My breathing came in short, shallow gasps. I never knew pain like this, it was awful.

He pinned my wrists above my head, dripping crimson onto my neck.

"You should know not to talk to me like that...But then again, I find your defiance amusing...And we're just 'playing', right?" He asked with a twisted smile. I could see my fearful expression in his eyes. He layed down on top of me and licked at the blood dripping near my neck. I shivered and bit my tongue, stifling a moan. Pain wasn't very comfortable, but I felt calmer and more relaxed...Maybe it was the blood loss.

Just then, the room lit up with a faint light.

"Oh...? How sad...Looks like playtime is over..." He frowned and got up from on top of me. "I'll have to let you go for today...You may leave..."

Right now I couldn't care less about following this madman's orders. I yanked on my arms, pulling them free despite the huge amount of pain it caused and I stumbled out the door, grabbing my taser and my torn and bloody shirt along with me.

This was getting WAY out of hand.
