I leaned back, not allowing myself to be distracted by the patient's frosty lips.

"D-Don't be stupid...If I were like you, I'd act like it."

"How do you know you aren't already? You do exactly as I tell you...And you believe it's the right thing to do? The moment we met, I already had you in my hands...Now I have no use for you, my puppet~" He sang eerily, taking the taser he had stolen from his pocket. I reached out to grab the weapon but he quickly dodged, rebounding and striking me in the ribs. I grunted, restraining the shock. I couldn't let my guard down around him.

"...You still...Need me..." I said through my teeth, looking up at him with weary eyes.

"Hmm...You'd think so, but really, isn't it you who needs me?" He asked, testing the taser with his finger. He looked directly at me with a knowing smile. I shook my head.

"No..." I coughed, holding myself up. "You haven't...found your...home yet...You need me..."

"Hm? Would you happen to know where it is, or are you just trying to gain control?" He teased, pinning me to the tree again. "I know you feel trapped...I can feel it."

"Shut up." I spat. If he wanted to play games, then so be it.

It was time for me to take control.

I hesitantly leaned closer.

"Four oh three...You should be one to talk about control, shouldn't you?" I said, hands shaking at my sides. I swallowed the nervousness in my throat.

"All these years...with nothing to do but think...And you need me to escape?"

"I could have left you if I felt up to it, but a master goes nowhere without his little toy--"

I interrupted him. "--And what about the the other guard? What about the one who I replaced? He was your 'toy' too..." I asked, trying to immitate his actions. I leaned around to whisper into his ear.

"You could have kept him there...And then you wouldn't have met me. You wouldn't have escaped, if it weren't for me arriving at the asylum...And now you're saying that I'm a patient? I play a big part in this, and I think I deseve to find out what it is."

The patient said nothing.

"Vi..." I said, my expression softening. "You don't know either, do you?"

"I'm afraid not..."

I sighed, my head in my hands. "I'm so fucking confused..." I mumbled. "It's giving me a headache..."

"We share the same thoughts, Joshua...But there's nothing we can do--"

I shook my head and closed the space between us into a deep kiss. After what seemed like hours, I pushed him away. The patient stared in bewilderment. But what he didn't know was that I used one of his own tricks against him.

"Yeah, how does it feel to be the helpless one for a change?" I asked, giving him a knowing smile.

The patient frowned and reached for the taser.

Which was now sitting in my hands.

"Looking for this?" I asked, tossing it and catching it in my hands. It felt good to be in charge for a change.

The patient reached over to grab it from me. Like he had just done to me, I aimed for the ribs, making him collapse onto my lap. He lay there for a while, and finally in a hoarse voice, he chuckled.

"...Heh...Not bad..." Vi smirked, looking up at me with the lavender eyes I was so familiar with. I smiled.

"I learn from the best. You okay?"

"I've been through worse." He replied, making me frown.

"Nothing you don't already know about. Don't be concerned."

I tch'ed at his comment. "I wasn't. I was only asking so Amber wouldn't have my head in the morning...You know how she is."

He chuckled. "Do I ever...My dear sister has always been a little fiery...We were different that way..."

I leaned in closer, intrigued. He never really talked about himself. "Huh...You know, you don't really talk much...About your life, I mean."

He shook his head, a slight smile on his face. "There's not much to tell...The memories of my life outside the asylum are nothing but blurred shapes and muffled voices...Effects of the injection, I guess."

I raised an eyebrow. "Injection?"

"Yes, injection...The same formula that was injected into your redheaded friend...That formula slowly tinkers with your mind...Erasing key memories until there's nothing left than a mere erased pencil line of what used to be..." He explained, looking to the full moon above. "Pretty soon, sister dearest will lose all memories of us...She can try to remember again, but I'd advise against it..."

"Why? What's so bad about remembering things in your past life?"

"Let me ask you something...Do you remember how you arrived at the asylum?"

I nodded. "Of course. I was offered a job and I accepted it. It had good pay...And..." I closed my eyes tight, pressing my index finger and thumb to the bridge of my nose.

"Is that what they told you?"

Well, yeah, that's what was in my records."

"Did it ever occur to you why they left those records on the table for you to see?"

"What are you trying to..." I stopped, clenching my fists at my sides. I now knew what was going on. "Joshua..." Vi placed a hand on my shoulder. "You've been captive for years...Everyone knows that...The effects of the formula...The injection itself..." He looked me in the eyes, pressing his forehead to mine.

"Is what deems us...all of us, insane."
