December had crept in quietly, dusting Madrid with the faintest hint of frost in the mornings and filling the evenings with that crisp winter air that made scarves essential and hot chocolate mandatory.vini and i had spent weeks hidden, secret smiles and late-night whispers marking our "almost-relationship." but that morning, after a long conversation with HR, everything changed.
"lise... we can be public," Vini said softly, voice full of disbelief as he wrapped his arm around me.
"what, really?" i asked, stopping mid-step in the corridor.
he nodded, eyes shining. "they still don't love it, obviously, but... they've agreed. we can be seen. publicly. together. no more hiding."
i felt my chest lift in a way it hadn't in months. the tension of secrecy, the constant worry of being caught, melted a little.
"vini..." i whispered, letting my hand brush against his. "you're... my promise. always."
"always," he echoed, squeezing my hand.
⸻
the first moments of freedom were quiet and simple. we walked through the plaza near my apartment, his fingers entwined with mine, and for once, no one raised an eyebrow or whispered behind our backs. for now, it was just us.
"you're freezing," he muttered, tugging my scarf higher and brushing snow off my coat.
"i am not," i argued, laughing as a snowflake landed on my nose.
"liar," he grinned, leaning down to kiss it off. the warmth of his lips made me forget all about the cold.
we spent the afternoon wandering through a small christmas market near sol. fairy lights twinkled above our heads, and the smell of roasted chestnuts and cinnamon filled the air. vin's fingers never left mine, and every time our hands brushed, it sent sparks through me.
"i can't believe we're finally... us," i whispered as he guided me to a stall selling handmade ornaments.
"i know," he replied, voice soft. "but i promised you, didn't i? no matter the rules, no matter the wait... always."
"always," i echoed, smiling, leaning my head against his shoulder.
we bought tiny ornaments each — mine a delicate snowflake, his a small engraved football — little symbols of our promise.
⸻
back at his apartment, we made hot chocolate, laughing over whipped cream fights and marshmallow overloads. and in the quiet that followed, it was just us, wrapped in blankets, warmth seeping into every corner of our bodies.
"i've wanted this," he murmured, voice low, forehead pressed to mine. "you, officially mine. publicly mine. but part of me still hates that we had to wait."
"because they're scared, vini. scared love could complicate things. i understand, but..." i trailed off. "it still hurt."
"i know," he said, lips brushing my temple. "but we're here now. nothing can take this from us. promise me, lise... promise we'll face whatever comes together."
"i promise," i whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his chest. "always."
⸻
that night, wrapped up together on the couch, we kissed slow and deliberate, whispered confessions, shared touches that made my heart race.
"i love you," he murmured.
"i love you more," i breathed.
we fell asleep in each other's arms, the snow quietly falling outside, holding onto the promise we had made.

vinis pov:
the next morning, i felt the weight of the club's scrutiny. yes, we were public, but they were watching, observing. still, the first moments of freedom with her had been lore than worth it.
as we walked into the stadium for training, her hand in mine, i whispered, "don't let them see you nervous. they can't take this from us."
"i won't." she said softly.
we spent the end of the day together, sharing small moments — warm churros, walks, hands tucked together under our coats against the crisp winter wind. each glance, each touch, reminded me why i had promised her my love, why this was worth it.
⸻
back at his apartment, we cooked together, played, laughed, kissed.
"vini... do you think... we can make this work? rules, club watching, everything?" i asked, finally voicing the question that had been in my mind since we were allowed to be public.
"i don't know, lise," he said softly, taking my hand. "but i do know this — i love you. i want us. and i promise... whatever comes, we face it together."
my chest tightened. "then... i want to be official. fully. no more whispers, no hiding."
"you are, in my heart," he said. "and soon... we'll figure out how to make the world see it too."
"okay," i whispered back, leaning across the table to kiss him.
⸻
that night, wrapped in blankets, watching snow fall outside, we held each other close. kisses, whispered promises, soft touches — moments that made the world feel small. for the first time since the beginning, i felt certainty.
i wanted him. fully. forever.
