I woke up to see that I was laying on a man made wooden stretcher and smiled at my people for being able to make it without me. I need them to be able to be strong and independent in the case that I would die and they would have to fend for themselves. I wanted to just reclose my eyes and go back to my memories with Max but I knew that it most likely would have only been a one time thing.
Everyone was gathered down below in a huddle and I wanted badly to see Max so I sat myself up a bit. My stomach hurt but when I lifted up my shirt I saw that it was been burnt closed and had the same special mud like thing that was on my back when I had first been carved into a rose. I test it and got myself to stand up before slowly walking down to the crowd.
As my approaching footsteps are heard, heads turn and gasp with smiles when they see me while others like Jason looked worried and angry that I was walking instead of resting. I received many hugs and smiles but was pulled back to my stretcher by Jason. "Jason I'm fine, where Max?" I asked and he froze in his spot before turning and looking at me.
"Who?" Was he really trying to play stupid with me right now because I was in no mood to play single child anymore.
"Jason I swear if you don't tell me where my brother is, I will flip on you. I did not just almost die because of knowing that I have an older brother so where is he and my lying mother?" Jason seemed to flinch when I mentioned dying and let go of my hand before gently grabbing my shoulders.
"The people were obviously mad at your mother for.... That and Max was leaving anyways so she ran off with him somewhere into the woods after he healed you. You were out for a day and we couldn't just leave you here injured and alone. We tried to get him to stay but I don't think he really talks and so he didn't answer and left. I'm sorry Naomi I really am." He said while trying to make sure I was okay but I wasn't, why would they just leave me like that? Didn't my mom literally just tell me she'd never leave me and now she just up and left when I was dying.
I couldn't stop thinking about them but I knew we needed to move because we were a day behind schedule and the enemy may be closing in on us as we speak. I stood there frozen for a bit before turning to look at the crowd still worriedly looking at me. I stood up taller to show confidence and ease their worrying before turning to Jason. "Have Amanda and Sage meet me now." I said before turning and heading to the one place I really needed to see right now.
I picked a flower off of a tree and placed it on her grave and gave her my moment of silence before Amanda and Sage arrived. At times like this I really missed Mina and wished her little voice was here to help me through everything. They both gave me my time before I motioned for them to follow me into the woods. Once in the woods, the jaguars ran up to me out of nowhere and wouldn't leave my side as I walked which proved a little difficult.
I turned around once we were at least hearing distance out and turned to them. "Okay so first off-" I was cut off by their worried faces.
"How are you?"
"How do you feel?" They both shot out at once and I frowned before shrugging at them in response.
"Not sure, okay so first off I need you two as co-leaders with me right now." Sages face brightened from our previous talk and Amanda looked surprised that I had even considered her as a co-leader. "Sage you know the woods and hiding spots while Amanda knows the patrols so we need to work together to get us relocated by night fall." They looked at me ready and I pulled out my map which was surprisingly still intact with all of the action that went on around here.
