JASON'S POV:
I regretted snapping at Naomi the minute I saw her face. I hadn't realized that she didn't mean it the way I took it, but I couldn't let them think I was a softy either. Sure, my father did dump me here and leave us to die. Sure, her mom has a suspicious part in this, but we shouldn't treat each other based on what our parents have done. I hadn't really heard anything except that her mom was supposed to be coming with us..... Naomi was sent in her mother's place!!!! That's why she wasn't supposed to be here, and my father is most likely going to kill her mother since she knows too much!!!!
I felt like such a terrible person. My accusations may not all be one hundred percent correct, but it's what I think. The look she had on her face as she walked away really stung. The girls' life sucked, and the first argument we had was me blaming her for us being here after I told her it wasn't her fault. The boy who had stepped in has been secretly glaring at me since he sat down and I had enough. "Who are you looking at like that kid?" I glared, and he glared at me once more.
"The girl has been through enough, you didn't need to treat her like that."
"Yea, well last time I checked you threatened to kill her in the first place so let's not go pointing fingers." I glared and cursed to myself before checking on the kids once more. Two out of the five or so kids had died of dehydration, but it seemed that the rest would live. I looked up at the sleeping people guilty of searching for Naomi, but she wasn't there. I walked back to Ricky and got his attention. "Have you seen Naomi?" I asked, and he rolled his eyes.
"No, I don't keep her in my sites at all times. I'm no babysitter."
"Seriously kid, she's not with the rest of the group and I don't see her down the shore." I said, and he looked up.
"She went for a walk, I'm sure she'll be back soon."
He said, and I nodded before looking around. Everyone was asleep including the sick, so I turned to the boy. I had this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach that just wouldn't go away. "I have a bad feeling so I'm going to look for her really quickly, can you handle watching the base for a little?" He rolled his eyes at me, but I could sense he had the same feeling and he looked down the direction she went.
"Just bring her back, I don't want her being out of site of camp for too long." He said, and I smirked at him trying to act all bad boy and not caring when he did. I looked around and then looked at him, "Take my gun. If anything is in the woods, shoot." I smirked, and he seemed a little scared by that comment. I went for my knife and saw her knife was still here, which raised my suspicion as I jogged down the beach.
The longer I didn't see her, the more I had a bad feeling. I started to walk, and look around but saw no signs. I stopped for a quick break and stared out at the sea, maybe I was just over reacting and she was completely fine. Maybe she was upset with me, and just decided to walk until she felt like coming back. Maybe she is trying to walk around the entire island and see how big it is.
No matter what I said, the emotion kept biting at me, and I couldn't shake it off. "Naomi?" I yelled, and when she didn't answer, I started to walk a bit faster. It wasn't so bad here besides our circumstances, this place could have even become a resort. I walked a bit farther and soon saw an outcasted shadow far down the beach. I was pretty sure it was Naomi, and sighed in relief as I slowed down.
The figure had been standing over something I think, and it had squatted down to do something. Maybe she found a dead animal or some sort of supplies. As I got closer, I could make out the figure a bit more, but it didn't seem to be Naomi. I squinted and tried to make out the figures shapes and size, but then I focused on the object on the floor. The figure had something shiny, and was raising it above the object.
