I swear the table got bigger overnight.

Or maybe it just felt that way because it was packed elbow-to-elbow with people, bowls, plates, bread, tea kettles, weaved baskets, and enough fruit to start a small market stall.

Finn sat beside me, his nose scrunched up as he bit into a blueberry. A sour one, judging by the look on his freckled face.

Across from me, Pan was aggressively stabbing a fish roll.

Rue slapped his wrist. "Stop fighting your food."

"I'm winning."

"You're losing so bad."

I choked on my tea, and Nya laughed heartily.

Lloyd tried to sit down and instantly had to scramble to keep the lumine from stealing his fruit.
"No," Lloyd warned softly. "We've talked about this, Lunar."

The lumine slowly, gingerly, picked up the fruit slice with its tiny mouth.

"Put it back."

It placed half of it back.

Zane blinked. "It.. compromised."

"Yeah," Lloyd said dryly. "That's what we're calling it."

Misha leaned across the table. "Hey Kai."

"Hm?"

"Wanna hear how I broke my toe yesterday?"

Kai blinked. "Not really?"

"Cool, so—"

"Spirits above—" Kai groaned, dropping his forehead onto the table.

Rue beamed. "He climbed a roof beam and—"

"Stop snitching!" Misha yelped.

"You fell INTO the water pot!" Rue insisted.

"But I wanted to explain it super epicly!"

Pan sighed. "Misha, there's no way you can make it cool because I watched you fall from the roof and into the water with the most high pitched scream I've ever heard."

Cole wheezed.

Zane nodded. "It was very high pitched."

"IT WAS WET AND COLD—"

"Should've done a backflip to avoid the pot dude," Kai teased without lifting his head, which lead Misha to go on a rant about how even Kai couldn't pull that off.

Finn nudged my arm gently, pulling me away from the scene. "Jay?"

"Yeah?"

He pointed at the bread basket. "You want some?"

"No thanks, I don't really trust round objects now."

Pan perked up. "Oh! Are you talking about the mango incident—"

"No!" I snapped.

"—because I remember—"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence."

Rue clapped her hands, delighted. "I wanna hear it!"

"No she doesn't!"

"We definitely do," Kai said, flicking a berry at me.

Pan had barely opened his mouth before Misha and Finn practically jumped out of their seats.

"BASICALLY-"
Pan hit Misha over the head with a piece of bread, shutting the kid up. "I'm telling the story, thank you very much—"
He cleared his throat dramatically.
"So, Cole was helping rebuild the stable for the cattle by installing rock pillars for the sheltered part."
