The drive to the house was slow and I felt like we weren’t going anywhere. Finally I felt a bump and looked out the window to see a beautiful house in front of me. The car came to a halt and the engine stopped. I watched Riker open the door and step out, Rydel followed him. I took a deep breath and opened my door then stepped out and closed it. Rydel was standing a little bit in front of me. I walked up to her and she smiled.

“Come, I’ll show you around” she said. Together, we walked up to the front door and entered. I noticed Riker just disappearing up a flight of stairs and the heard Rydel giggle.

“What?” I asked turning toward her.

“We had to wake him so he could drive us home. He’s probably going back to bed.” she said with a smile. “Anyway welcome to your new home!” she exclaimed. She stretched her arms out and spun around a few times then stopped. I smiled and looked around the room I was in. There were two blue couches and a large TV so I was guessing I was in the living room. Rydel started pointing out where everything was. I stood there and partly listened but mostly I was wondering why she was so cheerful. How she could be so happy in this situation. I soon noticed Rydel had stopped talking and staring at me. “I’m sorry, you must be exhausted. I’ll take you to me room, follow me” she said then she turned and started up the stairs. I followed close behind her. We got to a long hallway and as we passed each door she told me whose room it was. We finally got to the end and she opened the door. “And this is where you’ll be staying” she finished with. I walked in the room then Rydel closed the door and flipped on the light. I was greeted by a pink room full of Hello Kitty everything. I looked over at Rydel who had a big grin on her face. “So how do you like it?” she asked.

“It’s.....pink” I said and she laughed.

“Well you can have my bed” she said pointing to it “You need a good nights sleep.”

“Thanks” I said then I walked over and flopped down on it.

“No problem” she responded as she walked over to her closet and started to dig through it. She stopped for a moment and looked up at me.”You stuff is by my dresser if you want to get changed” she said before turning back to the closet. I looked over at the dresser and saw the suitcase I had been using on the tour laying beside it. I got up and went over to it then unzipped it and found some PJs. I went to her bathroom and changed into them. When I returned to the room I found Rydel laying on the floor in a sleeping bag. “Can you turn the light off?” she asked. I nodded and flipped it off then crawled into her bed. I layed my head down on the pillow and pulled the blanket up to my chin. It didn’t take long for sleep to take me.

I opened my eyes and looked around the room. Confused, I sat up straight. Then I remembered I was in Rydel’s room. I noticed the sleeping bag Rydel had been using was empty. I stood up and walked over to my suitcase of stuff and found something to wear then quickly got changed into it. I was just finishing when the door opened to reveal Rydel. She was holding a spatula and looking right at me.

“I thought I heard noises up here!” she said “Come down for breakfast, we’re making pancakes.” I put on a smile and nodded. Why is she so happy I thought as she left the room. I walked out and went downstairs then made my way to the kitchen. When I got there I found Rydel standing by the stove with Riker at her side.

“It smells good” I committed. The second I did Riker turned around as if I had startled him. He relaxed when he saw me then smiled.

“Yea I know. I’ve been working hard” he said. I watch as Rydel looked over at him then gave him a gentle punch in the arm.

“I’ve been doing all the cooking!” she exclaimed.

“Hey, I watched while you went upstairs!” he replied. I saw Rydel roll her eyes then look back at what she was cooking. I took a seat at the table and watched them cook. Soon I heard something behind me and I looked back to see Rocky standing in the doorway.

“Do you guys really have to make so much racket?” he asked as he walking in and sat down beside me.

“We weren’t making that much noise” Rydel responded and as she did I heard a crash outside.

“Thats what I heard!” Rocky exclaimed “But it was closer by my room last time.” We looked at each other for a moment then I saw Riker grab a knife that was laying beside him.

“Stay here, I’ll go check it out” he said before disappearing from the kitchen. Other than the sizzling of the pancakes all was quiet. Suddenly a thud came from the other room. I got up from my chair and quickly walked over to the living room along with the others. We found Riker laying on the ground with a big black dog standing on top of him. It was licking his face and he was trying to push it off. I heard Rydel and Rocky laugh behind me and Riker looked over at us.

“And you may now kiss the bride!” Rocky exclaimed which made both of them laugh even harder.

“Well don’t just stand there!” he said in between licks “Help me!” Rydel squatted down and whistled to the dog. It lifted its head and climbed off Riker then came over to Rydel. Riker stood up and brushed himself off. “Stupid mutt” he whispered under his breath.

“Oh come on Riker it just wanted some love from its husband” Rydel, who was petting the dog on its head now, responded with a laugh and Rocky joined her.

“Oh shut up!” he complained “And please get that thing out of here!” He then walked past us and back into the kitchen. Rocky turned and joined him while Rydel lead the dog back outside. Not wanting to join anyone I found a seat on the couch. How are they so happy I thought. Rydel came in and spotted me then came over.

“What’s wrong?” she asked as she took a seat beside me. I looked at her in anger and I knew I couldn’t hold back anymore.

“What’s wrong!” I screamed at her “What’s wrong is that Ross is in the hospital and you guys are playing games like it’s nothing! Do you not even care!” She looked at me in shock for a moment then relaxed.

“Of course we care” she responded a lot calmer than I had “We just don’t see any sense in worrying about it because there is nothing we can do. The only reason we goof around is to get our mind off it. Besides that’s what Ross would have wanted. He wouldn’t want us to sit around and worry all day.” I looked at her for a moment then sighed. Rydel got up and started to go back to the kitchen. She stopped for a moment and looked at me. “Maybe you should try it” she said before leaving me alone in the room. I nodded my head and sighed again.

“Maybe she’s right” I whispered to myself “maybe I should try not to worry.”
