Chapter 23 -The Waiting Results-

I finally turned and entered the house. Rydel was sitting on the couch, her eyes were red and I knew she had been crying. I slowly walked over and sat on the opposite end of the couch then closed my eyes. Soon after I felt something sit down beside me so I opened my eyes and looked over to see Rydel. She smiled at me before leaning over and giving me a big hug.

“You know it’s not your fault” she whispered into my ear before pulling away but keeping her arm on my shoulder and looking at me in the eyes, “none of its your fault.” I kept eye contact with her for a moment before dropping my head and starting to fiddle with my shirt.

“Rydel it kind of is…” I whispered “everything thats happened, Ross, Rocky, it’s all because of me.”

“Alex, Riker was the one who over reacted…”

“I know” I started cutting her off “but he wouldn’t have if he hadn’t found out I liked Ross.”

“He was going to find out eventually, Alex.”

“I guess so.” I sighed and layed my head on her shoulder. Moments later Stormie came out of the kitchen with the phone up to her ear.

“She’s talking to dad” Rydel said as she watched Stormie walk through the room and up the stairs. Everything went quiet after that besides the pitter patter of rain outside. It’s funny how the weather outside changed so quickly. The gloomy overcast just made me feel worse and more anxious.

“I think I’m going to go lay in bed” I whispered to Rydel before standing up.

“Alright, I’ll come get you when they return” she said and I nodded so she knows I heard her before starting up the stairs. I went over to our room and entered it, closing the door behind me, then plopped down on my bed. I looked up at the wrap that was around my wrist.  What have I done to myself I thought. I sighed and closed my eyes before quickly falling asleep.

“Alex!” I heard my name being called and I opened my eyes to find Rydel standing over me. “They found him” she said as she turned and left the room. I stood up and left the room behind her. I got downstairs just in time to see Riker and Ratliff guide a soaking wet and freezing Rocky into the house. Ratliff helped him to a chair while Riker went to the bathroom to get a towel. I walked over and sat beside Rydel on the couch. Rocky looked up at us and instantly I could see fear in his eyes.

“Wh… what’s she do… doing here?” he said through his shivers. Ratliff quick put his hands on Rocky's shoulders to stop him from moving.

"It's ok she's not going to hurt you" he said trying to calm a nervous Rocky. Moments later Riker reappeared. He walked up to Rocky and wrapped the towel around him.

"I'll take him to his room so he can get into some warm clothes" Riker said. Rocky looked at him for a moment as if he was unsure whether to trust him or not but finally stood up and followed him up the stairs.

"Where did you find him?" Rydel asked Ratliff once they had gone.

"He was in the park not far from our house. I got to admit that boy can run fast when he's scared." He responded. Rydel laughed and nodded agreement then everything went quite.

"So do you think he's going to be alright?" I asked breaking the silence.

"I don't know. He has no idea who his is or who we are. He's completely confused." Ratliff answered.

"Are we going to take him to the hospital?" I asked and the second I did Stormie, Riker, and Rocky all came downstairs. Rocky was in new clothes and Riker was guiding him towards the door.

"You guys stay here we're going to take him to the hospital" Stormie said before leaving the house behind Riker. I sighed and leaned back into the couch. It seemed like once someone got better someone else got worse. Riker has had his cast off for a few weeks and with the exercises he has been doing its almost like it never happened. Then there was Ross who got hurt and is now sick in the hospital and now Rocky. What else could go wrong? What's going happen now? When will this sting of so called 'fate' end?
