Chapter 20 -The Kiss-

I layed in my bed wide awake, unable to sleep. To many things ran through my mind and I knew I wasn’t going to be able to sleep until I knew if Ross was alright. Moments later the nurse walked in and came over to my bed. She looked down at me and smiled.

“You’re still awake?” she asked.

“Is Ross alright?” I asked looking up at her. She sighed and looked up towards my monitor before responding.

“He could be better.” I felt a tear fill my eye but wiped it away.

“How long have I been out?” I asked.

“Only since this morning” she answered “Now how about we take this IV out.” She grabbed ahold of my arm and slowly peeled the tape back then pulled the IV out. “Now you should get some rest, tomorrow you can leave” she said before turning and leaving the room. I suddenly felt extremely tired so I closed my eyes and quickly fell asleep.

The next morning I woke to find Riker sitting beside my bed. He smiled when I looked up at him. “Good morning sleeping beauty” he said with a smile. I smile and slowly got up into a sitting position at the edge of the bed.

“Good morning” I finally responded. I looked around the room to see if anyone else was here but there was no one, only Riker. “Are you here alone?”

“Yea I just wanted to be the first thing you see when you wake up” he responded before moving to sit beside me. I smiled unsure what to say to that. "So are you ready to go home?" he asked and I nodded. He smiled and moved closer to me. "I'm just glad you're alright" he continued.

"Yea I'm sorry for what I did" I responded.

"No need to be sorry about something that happened in the past." I looked at him and smiled. Suddenly I realized he was leaning closer to me and before I knew it his lips were on mine. I didn’t know what to do at first but the second I caught up on what was going I pushed him away.

“What was that!” I shouted at him. He seemed astonished by my reaction but I didn’t really care.

“I... I... don’t know” he whispered “I’m... sorry” and with that he got up and quickly left the room.

“Riker wait! Come back!” I yelled but he never come back. I took a deep breath then slowly put my feet on the ground and stood up. I grabbed onto the bed railing to get my balance then walked over to the door and looked down the hallway. I saw Riker a little in front of me. He had his head down and was dragging his feet as he walked slowly down the hall. I leaned up against the wall to help me balance and walked up to him. Once I was close enough I grabbed onto his arm and spun him around so he was facing me. “Riker please, stop.”

“What I said I was sorry.”

“You know I have idea how to explain what happen back there but...”

“I know you like Ross not me” he said cutting me off.

“How did you find that out?”

“Thats just say Rocky has a big mouth.”

I sighed “Riker I like you but more as a friend. Please you have to understand.”

“I understand perfectly, thanks for nothing!” he practically shouted then he turned from me and stormed away.  

“Riker!” I yelled but he didn’t stop. I tried to catch up to him but ended up falling on my face and when I looked back up he was gone.

“Oh dear, are you alright?” I heard a lady ask and I felt her help me up. I nodded and looked at her. “Come on we need to get you back to your room until someone comes to pick you up.” She started to help me back but I pulled away.

“No I need to find him.”

“You can find him when you are picked up, now come.” She came up behind me and guided me back to my room. “Someone will be here soon” she said before leaving me alone in the room. I just stared at the door. I hope she right I thought, I need to find him before he does something stupid.
