We all sat there, quite. Rydel would go check on Riker sometimes but other then that no one moved. Finally the silence was broken by a siren from outside. Rocky stood up and opened the door to greet the ambulance. Then he brought them inside and over to Riker.
“They’re go to take a look.” he said as he walked out of the bedroom. He walked over and sat beside me.
“Was it bad?” I asked.
“It looked like it” Rydel answered. She was sitting twirling her hair. I felt so bad to have to make them worry again.
It was almost time for the show by the time the paramedics came out of the bedroom. “So how is he?” Rydel asked.
“His hand wasn’t too bad. We put some cream on it and gave him something to make him sleep. He also has a small fever but it should be gone by tomorrow.” the first man said. I think we all let out a sigh of relief.
“Here” the second man handed Rydel a small bag, “This is the medicine you will need to give him.” He told us when to give it to him then they left the bus and drove away in the ambulance.
“I guess we better get ready for the show.” Rydel said standing up. She set down the bag and walked over to the door. The bus driver had returned so he swung the door open and we all stepped down. Everyone was quiet while we walked over to the stadium. We all went to our dressing rooms when we arrived. I closed the door and sat at the mirror then started plastering makeup all over me face. I decided I looked good enough and got up to put the outfit we had chosen on. I looked at the clock and noticed the time. Quickly, I flew to the door and wiped it open. The others were standing in a circle by the stairs. I walked over to them and we put our hands in the middle.
“Ready! Set! Rock!” we yelled then we walked up the stairs and started the concert.
The concert went by fast. I walked off the stage with everyone else. “That was great!” Rocky said as he playfully pushed me. I pushed him back and we started running down the hallway. When we got to the end he pinned me to the wall. “Ha, I win!” he exclaimed letting me go.
“Hey no fair. I didn’t know we were doing that!” I shouted back at him. He smiled and shrugged then walked back to his dressing room. I went over to mine, got undressed and back into my other clothes. By the time I had finished I heard a knock on my door. I opened it to reveal Rydel.
“Ready to go? We have a long drive to the next stop so we need to get going.” she said. I nodded then turned around to grab my things and followed her out. We met the others outside and started walking toward the bus.
“I’ll race you!” Ross exclaimed and the boys started running to the bus. I looked at Rydel to see her smiling.
“Boys will be boys” she giggled. We continued walking. Finally we arrived, I climbed up and sat down on the couch beside the boys. “I’m going to check on Riker” Rydel said as she walked toward the bedroom and disappeared inside. I got up and followed her inside. Riker was laying on the bottom bunk. His eyes were open but he wasn’t looking at anything specific. It was almost like he wasn’t even there. I walked over to Rydel and sat across her.
“So how is he?” I asked her.
She leaned over and put her hand on his forehead. It was cute to see her like this. She was caring for her brother like a mother would. “He still has a fever” she said. She started to pull her hand away when Riker reached up and grabbed it. She gave a little jump but soon realized it was him. He had snapped back to reality and was looking at her.
I looked over to see a tear running down Rydel’s cheek. I had never seen her cry before she is usually so strong. “I thought I was going to lose you!” she whispered as she bent down and hugged Riker. He lifted his arms and squeezed her.
“I would never leave you to care for our younger brothers alone!” he said back to her. She let go and sat back up, smiling at him.
“Are you hungry? You haven't eaten all day.”she asked. Riker nodded and Rydel left me alone in the room. I watched as Riker started sitting up. I could tell he was struggling.
“Do you want some help? I asked him.
“No.” He finally managed to get himself into a sitting position just as Rydel walked in. She was carrying a package of crackers and a bottle of water.
“Here.” she handed him the things. He grabbed them out of her hands then opened the crackers and started eating them, hungrily. She turned around and left the bedroom. I stood up and followed her. The others were sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, watching a movie.
“Can I join you?” I asked.
“Sure.” Ross said as he patted to a seat beside him. I walked over to him and sat down. I smiled at him, feeling a little awkward having to sit beside him.
I had fallen asleep on Ross during the movie. I woke to him quietly saying my name. “I’m tired.” he said to me, yawning. I looked up at him as he stood up and left me to go to bed. The others were already gone and I just sat there thinking about how embarrassed I was. All of a sudden a blinking light in the corner of the room caught my attention. It was my phone. I picked it up and flicked it open. “One new message?” I whispered. “Why would anyone message me?” I clicked the listen button and held it up to my ear.
“Hi dear.... I know where you're going to be. So I suggest if you don’t want your ‘new friends’ to be killed you will come to the back of the building after your um.... concert. And you better be alone.”
I dropped my phone and looked at the side of the bus. My mom knew where I was!
