Chapter 16 -The Best Day Ever-

After a few minutes I stood up and made my way back to the kitchen. “There you are” Rocky said once I entered “have a seat and eat.” He patted on the chair I had left. I smiled then sat down beside him. Rydel came over and laid a plate down in front of me.

“Thanks” I said as I looked at the pancakes that were on it. All she did was nodded then go back to get a plate for herself. I ate then stood up and was going to take my plate to the sink but Rydel came over and picked it up.

“I’ll take care of the dishes” she said then she went over to get Riker’s, Rocky’s and Ryland’s, who had joined us not to long ago.

“So where is Mark?” I asked when I realized he had not joined us.

“He had to go to the airport for work” Riker said as he stood up. I nodded and stood up also.

“What should we do now?” Rocky asked.

“Lets go swimming” Ryland said “we haven’t in a long time.”

“Thats if Alex wants to” Rydel said turning from the sink. I noticed all eyes turn on me.

“I guess thats fine” I responded.

“Great! I’m going to change” Ryland yelled before running out of the kitchen.

“Wait, do you even have a swimming suit?” Riker asked and I slowly shook my head.

“Thats alright you can use one of mine” Rydel said. She came over to me and grabbed my hand then pulled me out of the kitchen and back up to her room. She closed the door and started to dig through her dressers. Finally she pulled back and threw a swimsuit at me. “I think that one will work” she said as she pulled another one out and then made her way to the bathroom to change. I picked up the swimsuit she gave me then looked at it for a moment before changing into it and finding it fit almost perfectly. I had finished before her so I just sat on her bed until she came out. “You look great” she said.

“Thanks, you too” I said shyly. I stood up and together we walk downstairs. The boys weren't there and we guessed they were already outside so we went to the back door, slide it open, and stepped out. As soon as we did I heard Rydel scream beside me. I turned toward her and the second I did I felt cold water on my back. I turned around to find a grinning Riker standing there with a water gun. “Hey no fair!” I screamed then I launched towards him but he was faster. He spun around and darted away. “Get back here mister!” I screamed as I ran after him. Finally I caught up to him and when I did I spun him around then grabbed the water gun and pointed it at him.

“Whoo there lets not do something we will regret” he said as he put his hands up. I smiled then squirted him in the chest. He put his hands in front to block it so I moved below them. “Stop, stop” he said, laughing. I smiled while squirting and slowly backing him up. Suddenly he fell back into the pool with a splash.

“Oh my gosh, Riker!” I screamed, dropping the water gun and kneeling down beside the pool. Moments later he bursted to the top laughing.

“So you decided to just get me all wet instead” he stated.

“Oh so you want to play hard!” I said then I reached forward to push him under again but instead he grabbed my arms and pulled me in. My face was engulfed by water and I quickly swam to the surface.

“Yes I do!” he said before splashing me in the face. I splashed him in returned then dove forward and pushed him under the water.

“Have you seen Riker” I suddenly heard Rydel say. She was standing at the edge of the pool soaking wet and her hands behind her back.

“Riker? Hmmm... nope, never even heard about him” I said sarcastically.

“Sure” she responded. Just then I felt him get out of my grip and he bursted from the water beside me, coughing and gasping for air.

“I thought... I... was going to drown” he said in between breaths.

“Oh stop being a baby!” I said as I splashed him. I looked at him and I could tell he was trying hard to stay serious but I finally saw a smile escape. “Well here he is” I said turning back to Rydel. She smiled and started to rock back and forth on her feet.

“Hey Riker!” she said trying to get his attention. He was just about to splash me but stopped and looked up at her. Just as he did she pulled a water gun out from behind her back and squirted him in the face then smiled. “Thats for your plan of you guys squirting us!” she screamed. She then threw the water gun on the ground and climbed into the pool beside me.

“Look out!” I heard someone scream from behind and I turned to find Ryland standing on the diving board. I backed up a bit then watched as he jumped three times before actually landing in the pool. He sent water everywhere and I looked away trying to avoid it but ended up getting splashed by Riker again.

“Stop that!” I screamed as I splashed him back.

“Never!” he responded then he dove under the water. I smiled for my victory but it quickly disappeared when I was pulled under. I looked around and saw Riker hold my leg down. I twisted under the water trying to get out of his grip. Finally I succeeded and swam back up again and Riker appeared at my side. “Thats for trying to drown me” he said with a smile.

The rest of the morning went by fast. At lunch we ordered pizza and invited Ratliff over then swam for a while longer. Finally I decided to be done before I looked like an old wrinkled grape. “Hey Rydel” I said as I walked over to where she was laying in a lounge chair.

She looked up at me, “Yea?”

“Um... I kind of want to take a shower” I said trying my best not to sound demanding.

“Oh yea, go ahead and use mine. That is your bathroom now. Oh and you can use my stuff until we get you your own” she respond. I smiled and nodded then turned and went inside and up to her, I mean our room. I went into the bathroom and started the shower then get out the swimsuit. I stepped into the shower and let the water fall onto my face. I had to admit it felt great to just stand there and let it wash away everything. I washed my hair and finished with my body then stepped out and put some PJs on then left the room and made my way back downstairs.

“There she is!” I heard Rocky announce once I entered the room. I noticed everyone was sitting around the TV and there was a bowl of popcorn in the middle.

“Come watch a movie with us” Riker said patting on the couch he was sitting on. I smiled then took a seat beside him. Rydel pushed in the move then turned off the lights and sat up against the couch.

“What are we watching anyways” I asked.

“The Haunting” Rydel answered.

“Yea, a scary move because we never can when Ross is home” Ryland responded. I noticed Riker look over and give him a cold glare before turning back toward the screen. At first I didn’t think the movie was that scary but before I know it I was clenching onto whatever was beside me which happened to be Riker. Suddenly something jumped out and I pushed my face into his shoulder not wanting to watch anymore. I heard him chuckle at my reaction and I quickly pulled away, embarrassed. The movie ended shortly after that and I felt extremely tired.

“I think I’m going to head to bed” I announced as I made my way to the stairs.

“Alright, sleep well” I heard one of them say as I headed up the stairs but I really didn’t care who. I went into our room and layed down on the bed then smiled. This was definitely one of the best days of my life, I thought I just wish I could have shared it with Ross.
