I flicked my eyes open to a burning light. The sun was shining bright on my face. I moved my hand to block it when the bus went over a bump and made me bounce off the couch causing me to smack my head on the side of the bus. I stood up with my hand on my head and looked around. It was quite. I walked over to where their bedroom and poked my head inside to see everyone fast asleep. I walked back to the couch, sat down, and sighed. “It was just a dream.” I whispered. I layed back on the couch and looked at the ceiling. I didn’t want to go back to sleep so I just thought about life.
“Well you’re up early.” Rydel said as she walked out of the bedroom.
“Well you are to.” I responded back with a little more tone than I had wanted. “What’s wrong with you?”she suddenly asked.
I sat up and looked at her. “Nothing sorry, I just had a bad dream.”
She nodded at me then walked over to the fridge. She reached inside, pulled out something, and tossed it at me. I caught it and read it: Go-Gurt. “Eat up, I’m going to wake the boys now.” she said over her shoulder as she disappeared into the room. I ripped open the top and started eating when I heard a moan from the other room. “Come on sleepy heads.” Rydel’s voice came from the room.
“Five more minutes.” I head Ross moan.
“Oh come on Ross. You could sleep forever.” I heard Ratliff say. Laughter followed close behind.
It wasn’t long before Rydel walked out and sat down next to me. “We are going to stop and do some shopping today so you can buy what you need.”
I smiled at her which quickly changed to a frown. “I don’t have any money.” I said to her.
“Thats OK we will get it for you.”
“Really?”
“Of course. Your saving our tour.”
“Your tour wouldn’t need saving if I hadn’t been for me.”
She sighed then looked straight into my eyes. “Stop blaming yourself.” I nodded and Rydel stood up and headed back to the bathroom. I sat there in silence until the boys came out of the room. Ross, Rocky, Ratliff, and Ryland walked into the kitchen while Riker came over and sat by me. I looked up at him and he smiled.
“How’s your hand?” I asked shyly.
“Sore and it hurts once in awhile.” he said.
“I feel so bad you go hurt.”
“No need to feel bad. You couldn’t have prevented what happened.”
“Yes I could have. If I hadn’t ran into that hallway you wouldn’t be hurt.”
“You were trying to get away from your mom.” All of a sudden he laughed. “I would have probably done the same thing.” I smiled at him then we fell silent. I sat there listening to Ross and Rocky argue about who was going to get the last slice of breakfast pizza. When Rydel came out of the bathroom, grabbed the slice out of the box, and took a big bite.
“Hey!” Ross yelled at her and everyone started laughing. She shrugged at him then sat down in the chair across from me.
“We should be at the shopping mall soon.” she said in between bits. I nodded to her then stood up and walked into the bathroom. I flipped the light on and closed the door behind me. Then I looked into the mirror. I looked terrible. My makeup was everywhere and my hair was a total mess. I took a towel from beside the sink, wet it, and wiped my face. Then I took a comb and combed back my hair until it was straight and looked like silk. I looked down at what I was wearing too see my favorite purple dress. I had forgotten I had it on but I didn’t have any other clothes to change into so I had no choice but to wear it again. I turned and opened to door to Rydel standing there with her hand up. It looked like she was about to knock.
“We’re here. Are you ready to go?” she asked. I nodded my head and followed her out to the door. It swung open and I stepped down behind Rydel and the boys followed. Then we walked over to the mall.
It was dark by the time we got back to the bus. Rydel and the boys helped me put all the clothes I had bought away and we were just pulling out of the parking lot.
I sat down on the couch , exhausted and I could tell everyone else was to.
“Well I think I’m going to bed.” Rocky said. Riker had already left and the others nodded and went to join him.
“Got everything you need?” Rydel asked. I nodded my head and she disappeared into the bedroom.
I layed my head down and closed my eyes. Again I dreamt of my mom but this time she killed Rocky. I woke with a start and layed there. Was I trying to be told something?
