We're some of the first gladers to reach the box. Because he's second in command, Newt runs up to the doors while I stay on the sidelines. Others soon gather around and I am pushed and shoved away from the front. Newt opens up the box and jumps in. I hear sighs and curses from the other gladers.
"Shuck, it's a guy," I hear Frypan say next to me.
"I wanted a girl," Gally agrees.
I wanted a girl too, but I still have Newt so it's not like I'm all alone.
Newt pulls the greenie out of the box and Alby walks over to start talking to the boy. He's tall, with dark brown hair and light brown eyes. He's cute, but not as cute as Newt.
"Give the green bean some bloody space, will ya?" Newt motions for everyone to disperse.
I start to return to work until Alby calls for me.
"Greenie- I mean y/n, can you give our newbie the tour?" He asks.
"Me?"
"Yeah, you were the last greenie and I don't want to do it."
"Okay. Come on green bean, I'll show you around."
