The car is silent as we drive deeper into the forest. Not much has been said since we left Montana. Honestly, that's because I haven't wanted to speak to Rowan or Emeric, not in such close quarters, at least. Being this close to Rowan makes it hard to think, and I want distance between us when we talk about the heavier stuff, so we've all just been sitting here in silence.

Emeric and Rowan sit in the front seats of the car while Marna and I sit in the back. Rowan wasn't happy with this seating arrangement or that Marna was coming with us, for that matter. But I left him with no choice. I'd rather be bathed in wolf's bane than sit next to that Alpha for hours on end, so he gave in, but he has also made it abundantly clear that he's not pleased either. Every few minutes, he looks over his shoulder, almost as if to keep checking that I'm still there and haven't run away again.

The entrance to the Lunar Eclipse Pack can't be much further. At least, I hope it's not. I'm honestly not sure how much longer I can be stuck in a car with Rowan and his scent. My nerves are on fire, and I want to claw out of my skin. I hate being in the vicinity of him. At least my mind hates this. Not my body. My body couldn't be more content with being here because my body is a traitor, but I, most certainly, am not.

"We're almost home," Emeric says excitedly.

Not my home, I think to myself.

"It is your home, Willow," Rowan's voice breaks into my thoughts. "I'm sorry I made you feel differently, but this is your home. This is your pack."

I squint angrily at the back of Rowan's head.

Get out of my head, wolf, I think.

He chuckles.

Moons. I hate him.

"Your hatred is deserved, but I have every intention of changing that, love."

An angry growl rumbles in my throat.

"Don't. Call. Me. Love," I snarl.

"What?" Marna asks from beside me. My head flies in her direction. She's sitting with her Bible open on her lap, a bright orange pen in her hand, and a look of sincere concern on her face.

Moons. She can't hear the conversation Rowan and I have been having, so I've just made myself look entirely insane.

I clear my throat. "Nothing. Just thinking out loud."

"Are you sure? You sounded really upset, Willow. Do we need to stop the car?"

"No. That's okay, Marna. I was just thinking to myself."

Rowan snickers, and it takes everything in me not to kick the back of his seat...hard.

"Okay. But if you need us to stop so you can stretch your legs, we'll stop. Isn't that right, boys?" she asks Rowan and Emeric. There's a bite to her voice whenever she talks to them, a bite I don't recall ever hearing from her before. She doesn't trust them and is letting them know it.
