Chapter 16

"Adrian was in the hallway during the lockdown, delivering something to a teacher, and when the lockdown begun, I saw Adrian! He apparently got shot in his side!"

I start balling my eyes out. Why did it happen to him!? "Do you know if he survived!?" I ask stuttering on my words between sobs.

"I'm not sure, but I did talk to a paramedic, and they said that all the wounded students were taken to Hamilton's hospital."

Without thinking I say: "we have to find him now!" I shout, which earned me Violet's attention.

"But.........." Before Levi can say anymore, I tell him to call Dai, Baden, and the others, I tell him to meet me by Helden's creek. Then I hang up the phone, run downstairs, and grab my keys. When I start the car Violet comes running, so before I go, I roll down my window.

"Where are you going?" Violet asks curiously.

"Just tell mom that I am visiting a friend at Hamilton's hospital! I have to go! Love you!" I shout driving off.

When I arrive at Helden's creek, I see that everyone is dressed in their PJ's. "Why are you guys in your PJ's?" I ask confused, they should've had enough time to change into something nicer.

"We came as soon as Levi mentioned the Emergency. We have to make sure that Adrian is ok!" Caden calls out.

Then someone comes out of the bushes....... It's Chaz! "Hey Chaz! Thanks for meeting us here, even though you don't know Adrian!" I hug him, and then introduce him.

We hop in the car and drive as fast as we can, trying not to exceed the speed limit.

When we finally get there, we rush up to the desk and demand that we see Adrian. After a few tries, with no success, Chaz steps up.

"May I please speak to your manager real quick?" Chaz asks taking a step closer to the desk. The lady at the desk dials a few numbers and then hands the phone to Chaz........

"Hi, it's Chaz!" We hear Chaz say.

"Yeah..... Ok, thanks! Love you....... Bye." Then he hangs up the phone.

"Who was that?" Levi asks confused. I'm quite confused to..... Why would he say 'love you'?

"That was Dr. Simpson, A.K.A. My mom." Chaz explains like we should've known that already.

"Oh, that makes sense!" Naima adds.

"Ok, kids, right this way." The lady says pointing down the hall. She leads us down a few dark, empty hallways. Then she gets to a room marked EMERGENCY. She opens the doors and leads us to a curtain  marked with Arian's name: ADRIAN PETERSON. She opens it, and leaves.

There is a really pretty nurse assisting Adrian, her name tag says CARMEN. "Umm... Carmen, can we please have some privacy with Adrian?" Baden asks politely. Carmen turns to Adrian and waits until he nods saying that he knows us. So she steps out of the room and all of us gather around Adrian. I am SSSSOOOOO grateful that he is alive!

"Hey guys." He mutters. He's obviously NOT in perfect shape.

"Hey! Where's your family?" Logan asks curiously...... Guess Adrian has never told anyone else about his family.
Before he can answer, I lift up my hand and ask if he wants them here....

"Not Gloria...... But it would be nice if...... At least my sister would come. But Gloria definitely will not drive her here." He explains trying to sit up.

I have to admit, he doesn't look that bad. "Can we see your battle scar!?" Baden asks anxiously. Without answering, he lifts up his hospital gown, and shows us where he got shot. The whole left side of his back was black and blue. I can tell that he got stitches, and they already did the surgery.

"Damn!!! Did it hurt!?" Logan asks, like he's stupid.

"Um, let me think........ Does a bear shit in the woods?" Adrian says sarcastically. He starts to laugh a little, and then he starts wincing. Must hurt a lot!!! When he puts his shirt-thing back down the room goes quiet. I walk over to him and grab his hand trying to make it seem like he was fine, and everything is alright. Then Levi decides to break the silence.

"Who wants to come with me to pick up Adrian's siblings?" Everyone raises their hand, including me.

"How 'bout this, Baden, Dai, and Cassidy stay here to keep Adrian company, and everyone else, come with me! Including you Chaz, we will need you to get us back here." Levi yells enthusiastically. I look over at Chaz, and see that he has the biggest smile on his face! I think that he likes to be helpful.

"By the way, I have seven siblings! And my address is 546 Jr's ave." Adrian shouts as everyone starts heading out the door. Levi looks back at us surprised........

"Wait...... You have seven siblings?"

"Yeah, have fun!" Adrian waves and the others disappear through the curtains.
