Turwaithiel's PoV
I knew I had to leave. I had overstayed my welcome but I could not find myself leaving. I could not even step out of the door without a hope of return. I sigh inwardly as Bleon was scribbling on a piece of paper across me. The only sound in the room was coming from the fire that was burning in the hearth. I watch him as he continues to draw, his face was pure concentration. I found it quite adorable. His curly hair was unkept and kept falling over his eyes. He wipes the strands away with his hand and continues to draw.
"What are you sketching, little one?" I ask, although I did not expect an answer. His eyes leave the paper for a moment as he glances up at me. His skin turns pink as he pushes the paper forward to show me what he had drawn. My heart practically dives into my stomach as I saw the picture he had sketched. Most of it were scribbles and various shapes but the ones that stood out was a house and three people standing before it. One had long hair and flowers in them, Laralen. She liked putting flowers in her hair simply because she liked flowers. In the middle stood a boy with curly unkept hair. I laugh lightly, seeing as Laralen was holding on to a basket and one of her arms seemed to be longer than the other one as it held on to one of the little boys hand. The boy had a smile on his face and I turned to the last drawing that held hands with the boy, too. Her hair was shaded in and the pointedness of her ears were visible. I blink several times and trace the drawing with my fingers. I knew he was looking at me. Poor boy, he must be thinking he did something wrong, seeing me cry like this.
I glance back up at him, returning the paper with a soft smile.
"It is beautiful. Although, you forgot to draw the cows." I tell him and it brings a smile to his face as he nods enthusiastically and continues sketching his masterpiece. I stared outside the window, thinking about what I should do now. I cannot stay here, that much is true. Yet, I cannot find myself to leave. Dark clouds were visible in the sky from the window. Laralen should be home by now. I am suddenly filled with fear. What if something happened to her? Does she know how to defend herself? Fight for that matter? My worries ceased when the front door burst open and in came Laralen, panting for air like she had just run a league. She pulls her hood off quickly. I stood up, helping her with the empty basket and placing it on the table.
"You cannot believe what I have seen in the markets today!" She practically screams, making Bleon jump from his chair. He eyes her warily, as she continued beaming. It was like she had stolen the light right from the sky. I waited for her to continue as she took deep breaths and walked over to Bleon.
"Dwarves! Bleon, there are dwarves in the market!" She exclaims and Bleon's smile competed with hers. There was a sudden spark in his eyes as he stood up abruptly, making a show of taking his cloak.
"Dwarves?" I whisper as we both watch Bleon fasten his cloak. She gives me a smile, her eyes glinting.
"I have seen dwarves a lot of times," she explains as Bleon presented himself to us. I grab my own cloak, realizing that we would be looking for these dwarves. The gray clouds seemed to tell me it was not a good idea but with Bleon's look, I did not care if it was the worst idea I ever had.
"Bleon has not seen them, he is very closed off and was sick the last time dwarves were here." She continued. We walk side by side behind Bleon, who pulls his hood over his face. Me and Laralen do the same. We walk quietly as Bleon seemed to quicken his pace. There was laughter and talking as we entered the market place. I was standing near a stall when my eyes fall on familiar heads, with beards.
"My Lord Balin!" I practically shriek, causing most of the men and women there to turn towards us. Balin turns around at the call of his name and squints his eyes at me. I walk closer, with Laralen following behind and Bleon clutching on to her. When I get near enough so that Balin can see me, he has the look of complete surprise on his face. I could not help but smile.
