LARALEN

I ran until I could no longer feel my feet. I ran until the world tilted and my lungs screamed for me to stop. I ran until I couldn't. How do you get away from something that lives in the very bones beneath your skin?

How do you run from yourself?

The world was so dark around me and the only thing that kept repeating in my head was that the world did not deserve to be drowned in so much chaos. The world deserved so much better. Bleon deserved so much better.

I scream, scaring some of the creatures that hid in the darkness. I scream until I could no longer even stand. I felt my body go numb all over again.

Why? Why curse me with an immortal life if I was fated to meet such a destiny? How do I even live this way? The pain in my heart was already too much too hold and yet it keeps getting heavier. When will the crying stop? When will it end. When will I see the light again?

The light. The light I had always found in Bleon's eyes. The only light I ever believed in... Yet, Elrohir. Turwaithiel- everyone had lights of their own. But I do not deserve such people. I would only risk their lives...just like I have risked Bleon's.

The sound of a river enters my ears and I am filled with a need to go to it but if they look for me... Someone would know to go to the river.

"Lara..."

I freeze, my eyes scanning the darkness around me. That voice.

"Lara..."

I turn and find her. Her smile hidden behind the dark looming shadow of the trees. My eyes frantically look around and find that we were alone.

"Don't worry, I want to be alone with you," she begins as she takes a step closer. I step back feeling the dreadful surge of power inside me. She notices it as her eyes seem to sparkle with some sort of wicked need.

"All that power," she takes another step but to the side this time like she was afraid of scaring me away or worse...

"Yet you do not even want it," she says and I actually note the sadness and bitterness in her voice. I remain silent, knowing how conniving she was. One wrong move and she could trap me. I must get away. I must-

"The dark haired ellon-" she begins and I stop moving as Elrohir's dark hair flashes in my mind. I hold still, knowing I have already given her something she could use. Why did I have to have such a human heart?

"Ah- now that I have your attention-"

"What do you want?" I cut her off, turning to her with all the strength I could muster. Even if her eyes steal the very air from my lungs.

"Brave, are we?" She asks as she circles around me but keeps her distance. "What are you willing to do for that elven boy? I wonder?"

"I am tired of your games," I keep my eyes on her knowing very well any form of fear that I may show may be used against me.

"Well, we are a bit too old for games- except you, you haven't aged a day thanks to your mothers little trick," she says and stops walking. Her dark eyes is the very reason why I can never trust her. "Shall we make a deal, then?"
