You trudged through the cold snow—a soft crunch beneath your feet with every step. A light wind whistled around you as you ascended the mountain, rustling your long, shrouding garments, making them sway like the evergreen trees around you. You took a deep breath and could only think one thing...
"I'm lost, aren't I?" You muttered as you looked at your surroundings. Snow, trees, and maybe, if the landscape were feeling a little frisky, it would throw in the occasional rock. You looked to the floor and noticed you had found your previous tracks, which made no sense as you were walking up. "Did my sense of direction get worse? Who am I? Zoro!?"
You were on Mount Kumotori to visit the Kamado family, or more accurately, to spy on them. However, for some reason, it seems you've entered some kind of backroom/liminal space because you had no idea where you were. In truth, you could have used divination to search the mountain for the Kamado residence, but you opted out of that. Your blood demon art isn't subtle, to say the least—not in terms of explosive power, but the giant floating and glowing astrolabe may have been a little conspicuous. You'd rather avoid the risk of being seen at all costs.
A sigh left your mouth as you just collapsed on the ground to rest, only rolling to the side to face to hug a tree. You couldn't freeze to death naturally, so it didn't matter much. You lay there, breath slowing as you thought to yourself.
'I may actually see the protagonist of this world. My first meeting with the main cast.' Your heart began to beat a little faster than usual, and your breathing hastened slightly. You couldn't tell if it was excitement or just nerves. You turned your head and opened your eyes to look up, yet instead of the expected night sky and tree limbs, an axe began to descend upon you.
You immediately swiped at the axe head with the back of your hand—the edge clashing with your bladed gloves. Once deflected, you rolled back into a handspring, jumping away to create distance.
'What the– how did I not sense any killing intent?' You pondered as the snow cloud created from the clash began to settle; your assailant's figure came into view. A man clad in a layered kimono, which hung on frail limbs, swaying like a curtain. There was a scar to the left on his forehead, and his face was slightly gaunt. Despite his sickly appearance, he still made you clutch your neck in surprise. 'He almost got me!'
You stared at him, taking all of him before stumbling upon his earrings. His hanafuda earrings.
'It's you. Tanjiro's father.' Your tensed shoulders dropped, and you stood up straight before your face relaxed into a smile.
"It's nice to meet you."
"Stay away. I can not let you near my family." He protested, pointing the weapon's end towards you. Despite that strike almost hitting you, you weren't actually scared. It wasn't a nichirin, so it couldn't end you permanently, nor did you think he could actually sever your neck. At least not fast enough.
"I'm just your fellow human. I mean no harm to you." You happily said, even placing your hands under your chin in a V shape, like you were in a photoshoot. He just stared at you with a confused expression as you posed, and you didn't move either.
The silence slowly became uncomfortable as he stared at you.
"You not gonna... say anything?" You asked.
"You are weird, you aren't human too—You look like it on the outside, but internally... regardless, that's not why you're weird." The sickly man expressed.
You couldn't help but feel a gut punch to your ego. You dropped your hands and quickly recovered, returning to an almost somber look. There was a pregnant pause as you looked far off wistfully. Were you remembering the past? Wondering why so many pauses were getting pregnant and if the baby daddy was paying child support? Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ba— you quickly remembered where you were.
