At camp, we had two workshops, and one of them was about world views. I guess I'll break it up like what we did in the workshop.
Before I delve into what a world view is and is not, I should explain why it's important. Simply put, what you believe changes how you behave. It impacts you every single day, and everyone has one. So what is it not?
First of all a world view is not science. Your world view will reflect how you view science, but it is not a world view itself. However, there is a world view that worships science called empiricism or materialism.
Secondly, a world view is not religion. Your world view will reflect how you view your religion.
So what is it? It is how you'd answer three big questions: Is there an absolute truth? Is there good and evil? And is there only one true religion? Those three combined is your world view. It is like a pair of colored glasses. Let's say you have a pair of glasses with blue lens and your friend has a pair with green lens. When looking through yours, everything you see would look blue, while everything your friend saw would look green. That color is your world view.
I don't really have a point to this except for informing you on world views. I think next time I'll actually talk about the types of world views, then the last one can talk about the Christian world view.
