The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:36-40. The Pharisees and Sadducees asked Him what the greatest commandment is. He states that the first is to love God with all your heart soul and mind, and likewise, the second is to love your neighbor as yourself.
Firstly, who is your neighbor? If you go back to the parable of the man who was attacked and three men passed by him, the man asking the question answered that his neighbor was he that showed him mercy. Jesus answered "You go, and do likewise".
So, we must love our neighbor and be a neighbor ourselves. Love those who show mercy, and show mercy to others. Remember, it's not just love those who love you, even nonbelievers can love those who love them. We must show mercy to others because then the nonbelievers will notice something different about us, which can lead to us sharing the gospel.
However, we need to be careful to love others second. First, we need to love the Lord with our heart, soul, and mind. Notice how He mentions it? With your heart, soul, and mind. That means we can't just love God in our head, just be like "oh, yeah, I love Jesus." We need to truly love him with our heart... And yet, the heart is fickle. We cannot say one day "yes I love my Jesus." And the next day completely forget about him. We need to love him with our soul as well. So, in essence, we need to know we love him, and love him with our entire being.
Author's Note
I'm sorry if that didn't make a lot is sense, I wrote it yesterday, and I was really tired because the night before was my first day at work. It was really great, but pretty tiring. Anyways, I hope you've all had a great week, and remember not to think lightly of your love for God.
