-Chapter 59-
                              Niall
It was raining. I could see the streaks of rain running down the glass windows, and the gentle pitter patter sound on the windowsill. It was raining, and Cora's eyes were open.
The hospital room was dark, it was late or early: it depends on how you look at it. The only light came from the screen that was monitoring Cora's vitals, which weren't bad... they just weren't good. Everyone had gone back to the hotel to sleep. I was the only person left, and I sitting on the chair next to Cora's bed, holding her hand. We had said no words the whole time I had sat here, but our eyes stayed locked. She was weak, but she was awake.
I closed my eyes as the words the doctor spoke played over and over in my head. "She won't last the night." He said. "You should probably say your goodbyes." Mrs Russell's sobs and Mr Russell's pleads. Angie's blank faced hunted me. Cora's dad took his family back to the hotel because he didn't want to have to wait for his daughter to disintegrate in front of his eyes. They were coming back early tomorrow morning. "She's won't last the night... you should probably say your goodbyes. She's won't last the night... you should probably say your goodbyes. She's won't last the night... you should probably say your goodbyes. She's won't last-"
"It hurts." She softly mumbled, her voice croaking a little bit.
"What hurts?" I asked, ready to get to my feet and call a nurse.
"Not knowing what will happen to you after I'm gone." She said softly.
"What? No Cora, you're going to be ok." I said, my grip tightening on her hand.
                              "Niall-"
"The doctor said that you had to do was get through the night. After that they're going to take you back into surgery and fix everything and then you will be fine."
                              "Niall-"
"You'll be absolutely fine. Do you need anything? How about I go get a nurse?" I proposed getting to my feet.
                              "Niall-"
"Do you want some water? Or something to eat perhaps." I didn't even know if she was allowed anything to drink or eat.
"Niall!" She said almost in a normal voice, but I could tell it had been painful for here to speak that loud. "I'm finding it harder and harder to breath." She murmured, her voice going back to a soft level. "I'm dying." She declared, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She was breathless.
                              "No you're not!"
"I am." Her eyes were watery and her breath was becoming more and more laboured. "Please tell my family that I love them, and please tell Harry that I'm sorry." A tear fell out of her eye. "Please tell-"
"You're not dying!" I interrupted loudly. I instantly felt bad because of the pain on Cora's face. "You're going to be fine." I said softly, sitting down next to Cora's bed.
She smiled sadly. "Hold my hand." She said with a gurgling breath.
"I'm not holding you hand because you're not dying." I declared.
"Hold my hand Niall." Her breathing pattern was slowing down. It was alternating between loud rasping breaths to quiet breathing.
"No you're not dying. You hear me, you're not dying today." I said angrily, and got to my feet once again. I walked over to the door and poked my head out of it. "Nurse?" I called out but I got no reply. Suddenly an immense wave of sadness swept over me and made my eyes start to water. She wasn't going to survive the night. She wasn't even going to survive the next five minutes. Instead of telling her she is not going to die and being an arsehole about it, I should be in there, by her side and comforting her. So with a heavy heart, I returned into the room. Cora was watching me. She was now breath long, heavy breaths once in a while and I could tell from the look on her face and the tears in her eyes that she was in tremendous pain. I walked over to her and sat down on the bed next to her. I grabbed her hand hardly and blinked away the tears that were clouding my vision.
                              "I love you." She murmured.
"You don't have to say it just because I said it." I managed to choke out, with a smile, sad smile playing on my lips.
"I do." Pause and heavy breath. "I love you. I have always been in love with you, and I will always be in love with you." She declared breathlessly.
"Then please don't die. Just hold on a little while, because if you do then we can happy." I stopped and closed my eyes tightly before opening them once again. "I'll quit the band to spend more time with you and then we're going to get married and have three kids."
"Really?" Cora said, her voice rattling.
"Yeah, two boys and a girl." I decided.
                              "I'd like that." She whispered.
"Me too, and we're going to be happy Cora, you and me. We're going to have the best life Cora. You and I, we're gonna be so happy, so you can't die ok." I paused and bent down to wipe the tears off her cheeks. "You and I we're meant to be." I whispered, pressing my forehead gently against hers.
"Meant to be." Cora repeated, her voice rattling as she spoke one last time.
                              Meant to be.
                              And then her heart stopped.
                              ---

                              ---
                              ---
                              ---
                              ---
                              ---
                              ---
                              ---
Don't kill me yet! There is still one last chapter.... After all, I think we all need to say our goodbyes to Niara.
