-Chapter 17-

Niall's POV:

I woke up by a knock on the hard wooden door.

"Yes." I grumbled, propping myself up with my elbow.

"Niall, it's me. Can I come in?" Cora said from outside the bedroom door.

"Ugh sure." I mumbled, trying to locate my phone. In the process I turned on the light.

Even with small bags under her eyes, messy hair and second day clothes, Cora Russell still looked stunning.

"Can I come in?" She whispered sheepishly and I nodded as she opened the door wider. Cora sent me a small smile, as she entered the room. I got out of the bed, feeling slightly awkward.

"You got discharged?" I asked and she nodded, telling me that she had been signed out an hour ago.

"I...we never got the chance to talk about last night?" She said boldly, but I could tell she was nervous because she was biting her lip and fiddling with the hem of her T-shirt.

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked nervously, not bothering to try and hide it.

"I... We kissed, and you've got a girlfriend, and..." she trailed off.

"And?" I urged.

"Do you really have a girlfriend? Please tell me you don't because I don't want you to have cheated on her with me only days after you got together." She blurted out the words. A dark red blush spreading across her face.

"Cora-" I started, but she cut me off.

"Look Niall, I know what I said, no strings attached, but-" This time I cut her off.

I strode forwards, and without hesitating, I latched my lips onto hers in a slow and passionate kiss. I didn't need my eyes to be open to know that her eyes were closed, and that she was responding to the kiss. I moved my hands up towards her face and cupped her soft cheeks with my hands. She responded by threading her hands through my hair.

I could smell the sweet smell of her perfume, and I could taste the mint from her lip balm. Everything was perfect, and I could hear the sound of our lips touching and moving together, and that is when I knew that the 'no strings attached' was complete and utter bullshit, because I am attached.

We pulled away, I sat down on the bed and pulled Cora onto my lap. She pressed her forehead against mine and we waited for our breaths to even out before speaking.

"You need to explain everything before you do that again." Cora murmured, her eyes closed.

"I know... And I will, but just give me some time to figure it all out in my head before I try to explain it to you." I asked. Cora agreed and I asked her if she wanted to do something with me today.

"I can't... I'm going to the beach with my friends... will you come?" She offered hesitantly.

"I don't want to intrude." I smiled weakly.

"You won't." She cleared up.

"What happens if we are recognised together?" I asked curiously. I didn't want to think about Barbara, but everyone thinks that we are dating and if Cora and I are spotted together it will cause a lot of problems for the both of us.

"We won't be. Borth is a tiny town, and it's the middle of October. Nobody will be on the rocky beaches at this time of year." She explained.

"Well, in that case, I don't see why not. As long as you're sure that your friends won't mind me coming." I said with a small smile.
