"What about us?" I asked, stopping and looking at him. He seemed to hesitate for a second, looking back at me with a strange expression.

"Well...more about 'him'." He corrected himself. "You weren't there to see it happen..."

"Wha...What are you talking about?" I asked, getting confused. Sniper leaned against the counter. he took his hat off before running a hand through his hair, which was all matted from the day's fight, looking straight at me.

"Cuttin' it short.." He began, his voice sounding kind of scratchy. "As soon as word came that somethin' went wrong...well...I've never seen that man when he couldn't think straight. " He said. His voice seemed to change to concern as his gaze wandered, as if suddenly unable to look at me. My expression softened as I thought for a second.

"What happened?" I asked. He sighed, looking down at his hat while he spoke.

"That's the problem..." He finally said. "We didn't know what happened. One moment he was helping Engie set up a defense line and charging up for Heavy, and we didn't get to see you for five seconds before both of you were gone." I frowned, thinking and trying to remember anything about being with Medic before waking in the clinic, but my memory was a blank slate.

"Was I out?" I asked.

"Very much so..." He replied. "Spy passed you to Medic..and we never saw you two again after that." I thought it was only logical that he'd rushed me to the clinic as soon as he had me.

"Why are you making it sound like a bad thing?" I interjected. "He was just taking me to the clinic."

"You see...that's just the thing.." He pointed out, sitting up a little. "See....actually...follow me." He said, putting his hat back on and turning to walk down the hallway. I looked back at the leftovers on the counter, but huffed and followed, rubbing my arm. When I was walking beside him again he spoke up.

"It was about how long you were in the clinic and what he was doing."He told me. "When I say we never saw you again...well...I really mean none of us saw you or him for the rest of the day."

"How long was I there for?" I asked. He thought for a second, looking up at a wall clock as we walked under it. I didn't even realize that it was almost eleven thirty.

"Well...We attacked very early...about five...and when the battle started it was almost six. Spy got back with you around quarter past. What time did you get out of the clinic?" He asked. My eyes widened at the thought.

"Only a couple hours ago..." I said honestly, but quietly. I was in Medic's clinic for more than twelve hours. After I'd woken up I didn't even consider what time it was. I didn't think it would've taken long to fix my neck. In fact it should've only taken as long as I was awake to be there, which was about half an hour. He could've had me outside and still fighting before the battle even ended. Sniper stayed quiet as I thought.

"I don't understand.." I mumbled.

"Me neither..." He replied as we reached the end of the a hallway. He pushed the door open and let me walk in. It was our surveillance room. It was slightly dark, but the only source of light seemed to be coming from the many TV screens hovering over a desk. There looked to be about two cameras per room stretching across the entire base.  I could see almost every corner and detail of every room.

"Wow..." Was all I could utter, looking up and seeing most of the men in their rooms, fast asleep. It didn't seem that Engie had told the truth about going to bed, for he was sitting on a chair next to his window, playing his guitar. Everyone else seemed to be in bed except for Medic, who's bed was completely empty.

"Over here.." said the Sniper softly from across the room, pointing up to a row of screens near the bottom half. I walked over and looked at them curiously. Once again showing every angle of the clinic as I knew it. All the lights were still on, and the Medic was standing beside the bed that I'd been lying in, seeming to be just staring into space with his hands behind his back. It seemed creepy, but I knew well enough that he was in deep thought about something. I only wish I could've known what.

Sniper picked up a remote and rewound the tape in the TV, taking it from his live shot to him pacing backwards through his room. I frowned, watching. This continued for a few more minutes in reverse before it was back to this morning.

He'd busted into the room, quickly lying me on the bed. I looked myself over as he rushed off camera for a second to grab something. I looked awful. I was deathly pale and the only color that covered me was red blood as I was still bleeding. He came back a second later with a clean cloth, putting it over my neck and trying to stop the bleeding, meanwhile holding the heart monitor sensors in his teeth. The machine beeped loudly as he hooked me up to the sensors. My rate was slowing, and fast.

"Frau..." His voice came through the small speakers and I shivered at the thought...his voice was shaking, and hearing that almost scared me. He was usually pretty calm during something like this. I never remembered him making a sound when he was working on Scout. He talked almost furiously to himself as he positioned the Medi gun above me, though he was speaking German, so I couldn't understand him. My rate was dropping even more, and I was starting to wonder if he was going to lose his mind.

"Nein...Nein, bitte nein..." He almost whispered, as if pleading to the gods above not to let me slip on him. Sniper saw me getting uncomfortable and started to reel the tape forward again. It had been about an hour later when he played it again. The machine was still beeping, but the Medic had fallen quiet, just waiting for a miracle to happen. It was a few minutes later when the machine finally went silent when the Medic did something that I...would've never expected. He reached forward wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to him, his breath was shaking with happiness and he was smiling, almost crying.

"Gott sei dank..." was all he said, holding me close to his chest. My face went red as I stared at the screen, unable to look away.

I was so blind...
