"C'mon, we're gonna miss them!" I said excitedly later that night, trying to tug him away from the clinic. He pulled back against my attempts, and since he was a lot stronger than me, almost dragged me halfway across the room.
"Nein, Scout." He said firmly, looking at me. "I don't vant to go outside. Especially on zhe roof. You don't know if zhat Sniper is still alive or not." I huffed, still pulling at his sleeve in desperate frustration. He only responded by smugly sliding his coat off, making me stumble back with his coat in my grip. He swiftly escaped further into the clinic, and I threw his coat over the bed, following him quickly.
"You're such a grump." I said as I chased him down. He may have been stronger, but I was faster, and I caught up with him quickly. I laughed uncontrollably as I pounced on his back and in turn he smiled happily, stumbling to a stop with my arms around the front of his neck.
"Mein Gott," he chuckled, holding me up so I wouldn't choke him. "You feel like a feather." After a moment, he let me go, letting me slide off his back and onto the floor. Once I was back on my feet I quickly clung to his arm, just to be sure he wouldn't try to get away. He sighed quietly, looking at me again.
"Scout...You know vhat I'm going to say..." he sighed, almost like a parent scolding a child.
"Everyone else is outside...and they're waiting for us." I replied, looking back up at him. He pushed up his glasses with his other free hand, thinking for a second.
"I heard from Engineer that this meteor shower won't be worth missing. He said that there will be at least one meteor for every citizen in Teufort. We'll get the best view from the roof, and it'll be quiet." As he looked at me, I kept trying to reason with him. "I know I want to see it...so it's either you come out on the roof with me, or I'll party outside with the other guys if you don't want to come." he sighed in what sounded like a cross between exhaustion and frustration, giving me a gentle shake with his arm.
"Alright...Alright, Frau..." He said. I smiled happily, letting him go. He turned once again to look at me again, smiling softly.
"You remind me of zhe ozher Scout more every day..." He said. "I zhink you vould've had a nervous breakdown if you had to pester me this much on your first day..." I blushed a little, remembering my first few days and getting to know everyone. When anyone said 'hi' I would nearly jump out of my skin. Now I talked to everyone like I'd known then my whole life. Now remembering Scout, his pestering was the very reason that him and I were good friends.
"Are you coming?" he asked, now suddenly by the doors and about to leave. Not realizing how much time had passed while I was caught in thought I nodded, rushing to the door, grabbing his coat back off the bed on my way out and handing it to him.
"Danke schön." He said politely, taking it and closing the door behind us.

"Wow..."
I was amazed at the sight that was presented before me. A full clear night sky stretched out to the horizon, and I could see all the way over the hill to the BLU base. Stars dotted the darkness and twinkled brightly, more and more of them coming into view the longer I looked. I smiled as I sat down, looking up and watching the sky. I heard the Medic coming up behind me as I looked over in front of our base. Pyro was lighting the camp fire and Engie was building a sentry by a corner just by the hill, so any attempting intruders would be shot down.
It was quiet...without Scout running his mouth everything seemed almost too quiet, but hearing Demo and Soldier come out with the drinks made it a little better. Everyone talked and laughed. I heard some of them sharing stories down below. I listened to the Soldier recall memories about Zhanna, who was one of Heavy's sisters, Spy responding with a disgruntled sigh. Sniper talking about what he remembered growing up in Australia, and Pyro promptly trying to correct him. He seemed to never forget that trip under the ocean to New Zealand. Everyone had been on that amazing adventure, and I loved hearing stories about it. The journey to re-assemble the mercs.
"Vhat are you thinking about, Frau?" I heard from behind me. I looked back over at the Medic who was now sitting beside me.
"Just...thinking about all I've missed..." I said honestly. "Hearing about all the places you guys have traveled outside the badlands...I don't think I've ever even seen much of Teufort to be honest." I hugged my knees, a cold wind sweeping across me.
"Eh...zhere's not much to see zhere, Frau.." he admitted. "All of zhe people zhere are all zhe same...unpredictable...Dummkopfs." He mumbled the last word, seeming to really mean it. "I vouldn't go zhere again unless I had to."
I shivered, smiling a little. The next thing I knew I had something being wrapped around my shoulders. I smiled, knowing that feeling of worn cloth anywhere. I slipped my arms into the arm holes of his coat and smiled, wrapping myself in it. It was still warm.
"Danke." I said, smiling.
"Bitte schön." He replied, chuckling. "Zhat coat is huge on you." I smiled again, looking back up at the sky. One of the first meteors streaked across the blackness.
"Shooting star," I said quietly, leaning against him. "make a wish." He smiled and thought for a second as I looked up at him. He had that look on his face that I found so adorable, and I knew it in a heartbeat.
"I vish....I could take good care of you...even after this var ends..." I smiled and snuggled up against him. He was so unbelievably warm. He wrapped his arm around me, and I felt a small peck on my forehead.
"Vhat about you? Vhat do you vish for?"
"A much longer night like this..."
We stargazed for hours to come, watching as many more streaks lined the sky. The Engineer wasn't wrong about how many there would be, and I wished more than anything that this would last forever.
