Stepping In (Star Wars AU)

Chapter 12

Third Person

Vader again shot at the two expert pilots but to no avail. They quickly dodged the blaster fire and again shot at the huge laser, which was almost down charging.

"Two minutes left. I need to either destroy them or hold them off." Vader says to himself.

They make a u-turn and fly towards the charging super laser. Vader had a bad feeling. He tried firing at them but it was too late. The two Jedi had already fired and was flying away from it. They had hit the weak spot. The laser blew up and that caused the whole mechanical terror to explode. Vader slammed his mechanical fist on the console. He quickly got into unoccupied space and activated the hyperdrive.

Blue and white lines surrounded his ship as he made is way to Coruscant thinking of only one thing. His master is going to kill him.

"What the hell was that thing!?" Ackbar asks, incredulously.

Nobody answered. In truth, they didn't know either. Well, everybody except one person.

"Know, I do."

All eyes looks at the green Jedi Master.

"You know what that monstrosity is?" Mon asks.

"During the Clone Wars, asked me what I thought of a super weapon, Palpatine did. Then, showed me his plans to make something so powerful that it could destroy a planet, he did. Tried to talk him out of making it, I did, but determined, he was. Know why, I do now. Create it, he did, to destroy the opposition to his Empire."

Everyone in the room stared at Yoda in horror.

"Y..you mean that...that thing can destroy a planet!?" Garm Iblis asks, astonished.

Yoda nods sadly. Everyone in the room was shocked into silence.

"We must assume since this machine was destroyed that Palpatine plans to build another." Mon Mothma says.

The others nods.

"I'll send word to the spies to find out where they are building this super weapon. This meeting is dismissed." Ackbar says.
