Stepping In (Star Wars AU)

Chapter 18

"The prisoner has escaped! Repeat! The prisoner has escaped!"

Sirens blared throughout the building. Flashes blinded her. She could hear the marching of the stormtroopers as she ran down hallways and ran into dead ends.

"Freeze!"

She turned around. A single stormtrooper was aiming his blaster at her. She looked at the corner on the opposite end of the hallway. She decided to take a chance and run for it.

"Stop!"

The trooper fired at her but she had already turned the corner. She pushed herself against the wall attempting to hide herself. The trooper came around the bend and she charged him. He hit the wall and slumped against it. She grabbed his blaster and ran down the hallway. She turned another corner and she saw it. Light. She ran like she never ran before. The sound of water crashing down filled her ears as she ran out of the secret base. A waterfall. She looked back. There, was the Emperor, with his own army of stormtroopers. She ran through the cascading water, soaking her from head to toe.

"Get her back! She can not reach Theed!" Sidious shouted at the stormtroopers.

She ran for hours. The only thing keeping her from collapsing was sheer determination and adrenaline. She had lost the troopers a while back but she couldn't take any chances. She had to get away from there. She walks through a town she didn't know the name of. She had never been on this planet.

"Last chance! Now leaving for Theed!"

Theed? She had heard of that name before....! Naboo! She rushed to the automatic voice. She quickly boarded the ship without being seen and sat in the back. As the ship took off, she could see the stormtroopers flooding the town.

The ship touched down and she scurried off it while trying to think of people or places that she could be safe. She remembered something that Padme said.

"My family lives right outside Theed's entrance. It's really a beautiful place."

"Oh Padme. I wish you were still alive." She said sadly.

She didn't have time to think about Padme. She could not get caught by the Imperials.
