The white snow fell slowly from the sky to the ground falling on top of the piles of snow. All the streets were quiet. On each house you could see the Christmas tree and the house full of family members. You could see them laughing and drinking. They seemed to be having a blast.
If you looked to ourside of the house you would see a Christmas tree with a bunch of presents but no people to open them with. You could feel the negativity from a mile away. It was a sad picture to look at but it was how it felt inside. I took I sip of my hot chocolate as I turned my head towards the fireplace.
It was finally Christmas and like every year Alijah and I were alone. We usually made food for us two, eat in silence, open a present each, and go to sleep. But today felt different, Alijah wasn’t in his fake jolly mood. And I wasn’t feeling the Christmas spirit at all.
The house was silent all you could hear was the pans crashing as Alijah baked. I couldn’t dare to walk in the kitchen and see Alijah face. He was disappointed. But I would thought by now he would realize job came first before us.
“Aldabella?” I heard him say. I turn my head and stared at him. “Dinner is ready” He whispered walking back inside the dining room.
I sighed. I placed the cup on the table and jumped out of the couch. Inside of the dining room the table was full of food. Turkey, corn, mash potatoes, garlic bread, to even my favorite lemon chicken.
We sat down and as we were about to grab our food when there was a knock on the door. Alijah and I glanced at each other. I hadn’t called anyone over and I was sure Alijah hadn’t either. We liked having Christmas alone because afterwards we would cry awhile and fall asleep. I pushed my chair out and made my way towards the door.
My face dropped as I saw my dad standing outside. “What are you doing here?” I asked as he stepped in. He turns around and smiles.
“I came to spend Christmas with my family” For a strange reason my eyes began to water. I launch myself towards him and I hug him tight. I soon feel Alijah hugging me too. We were having a family moment and I was loving it.
My dad looks at us both and he smiles. “You two were right you basically raised yourself but starting today you wont be alone I promise”
“You didn’t have to come back. Alijah and I know it has been your dream to work in Hong Kong” I responded.
He shook his head. “No, that has been your mothers dream my dream has been seeing my two kids grow up but I’m guess too late for that”
“Your not dad, your still have the chance to see us grow up to be adults” Alijah smiled.
My dad nodded in agreement. “Im also divorcing your mom” Alijah and I stared at him. What did this man just say? He was divorcing the evil witch?
“Why?” I asked.
“Your mother is addicted to work she doesn’t care about you. She basically had a fit when I left the hotel. That when I realize I don’t want to be with a women who doesn’t love my children”
Alijah squeezed my hand and he smiled. “Whatever makes you happy makes us happy”
I nodded. I hate my mother but I wasn’t sure I hated her enough for my dad to divorce her. I pushed that thought in the back of my mind. It didn’t matter right now. I should just enjoy being with my family.
As we were eating there was another knock on the door. I jump up and I run towards the door. I froze as I see Jeydon standing there with his parents.
