Offroad POV

Offroad felt numb as he lay in bed staring out the window. His father had given him a brief rundown of the last 11 years that seemed to be missing from his memory. Apparently, he had a husband, a daughter, and an empire. 2 of the 3 he never thought were possible, considering Luke never wanted kids, and he was going to marry into his family. His father had mentioned the man who had kissed him was Daou, and they had been married for almost 6 years, and their daughter Veronica was almost 5. His head had started to hurt, and he had asked his father to leave for the time being. He needed time to process that his best friend was gone. The alpha refused to leave, keeping his distance and remaining quiet. Offroads Omega felt scared, but he reached up and felt his neck, feeling the mating marks on both sides, and it calmed him a bit.

"We have a daughter?" Offroad asked, still looking out the window.

"Yes," the alpha grunted quietly. "Veronica, she is named after your mother."

"Do I call her Ronnie?" Offroad asked, remembering his mother's nickname.

"You try," The alpha chuckled. "She doesn't like it very much. Ram calls her Veri,"

"That's an awful nickname," Offroad scoffed, turning to look at the alpha who, thank god, had cleaned up and showered.

"She's not too fond of that one either," He answered.

"What is she like?" Offroad asked, trying to picture his own flesh and blood.

"Smart, sassy, mischievous," he answered. "She looks just like you."

"What's our favorite thing to do together?" Offroad asked, and the alpha suddenly looked nervous.

"There were complications with her birth. You were in bed rest for a good bit after. The bond was never really formed. She tends to stick with me. She adores you, and you adore her, but you don't really do things on your own," He answered, and Offroad felt sad.

"Was she hurt?" Offroad asked. "Dad told me what happened,"

"No, she is fine, you got to her in time, just a bit scared," He answered, sitting up in the chair.

"Good," Offroad said with a nod. "As long as she is safe," Offroad thought for a moment, trying to remember anything but just feeling sad when he thought about children. "Did we have any more?" Offroad asked, and the alphas' faces drained of color.

"No," He answered coldly.

"But we were supposed to?" Offroad asked.

"Are you remembering?" The alpha asked excitedly. Offroad shook his head no.

"It's more like a feeling," he answered.

"Oh," the alpha cleared his throat. "You had a miscarriage, yes," Offroad nodded at the information.

"How did we meet?"

"You brought my mom and me," He laughed.

"You're a lowborne?" Offroad asked, and the man nodded. "Who made the first move?"

"You did," he laughed. "You saved my life, actually, a few times."

"Is that why you liked me? Because I saved you and your mom?" Offroad asked, and the alpha stayed quiet for a bit.

"I won't lie, but at first, yes, but then you became the biggest pain in my ass," the alpha scoffed. "I wanted to strangle you on more than one occasion,"

"But then you fell for me,"

"You gave me no other choice," the alpha smiled at him, and Offroad felt his stomach flutter.
