“I see you developed that voice of yours kiddo, last time I heard you sing, you literally broke my window” he teased, the whole family began laughing. When they reached their destination, Valeria was surprised to see the good-old house that she has lived in, still good and strong. It’s a craftsman bungalow which was built ever since 1956; it was renovated every decade, to keep it standing strong.
“I am surprised it’s still standing, despite of all the tragedies that happened” Kayleigh said, rubbing the walls of the house looking really amused.
“Yeah, I know. It’s really well-built. Though the roof flew off last typhoon, I managed to get it back” he chuckled, carrying a few luggages on the house “These here was your room, do you still remember it kiddo?” he asked Valeria opening the door, to her room. It was still as it was before when she was young, her grandmother arranged it for her and it never changed since.
“I can’t believe it, it’s still the same...” she said looking at around, amused
“Oh, that’s your grandmother’s request” he said and dropped off all of her luggage in the room. Valeria went to the back yard and saw the swing she used to sit on with her grandmother; she sat on it remembering the things they used to do with each other. Her grandmother was truly a remarkable woman, she remembered the things she used to do that always messed up which her grandmother always tend to fix.
“You know, that’s where your grandmother always want to hang out” an old voice came from behind Valeria; she cocked her head over her shoulder to see her grandfather standing behind her, smiling.
“I guess, she misses me sometimes, since my last visit I never thought she’ll die because of an heart attack, and I never even get to say goodbye to her” Valeria told him leaving the swing and holding back the tears.
“Don’t let it bottle up in there kiddo, let it out” her grandfather advised, she burst out of crying and buried her face to her hands. Her grandfather approached her and gently rubbed her back. “Go on kiddo, what’d you say we meet up some old friends? And remember you’re gonna start school tomorrow, better adjust to the circumstances we have here” he said, Valeria nodded and hugged her grandfather. she immediately ran off and headed to her favorite spot on the city, up a hill and under the oak tree. She used to hang in there when she was a little girl; she found it when she was on her last vacation here on Arlandia. It wasn’t so bad like she remembered it, but the thing that fascinates her most is the royal family, the Knightly are the ones who are ruling the country. She saw them once, but only on the morning he and the royal family had a morning stroll around the city on their royal carriage, that was the first and last time but nothing else.
~Monday, Otsedom – Arlandia, 8:00 p.m. ~
After almost a week on staying at Arlandia, Valeria didn’t find it so bad. She made new friends and she met Cecily at school, she was a good person but nothing can take over her best friend Mary, they had been in contact with each other every time they can, even if someone needs to wake up early in the morning, the truly are best friends.
“Hey, VAL! What outfit do you think suits me best?” she asked through the webcam showing a pile of clothes to Valeria
“I think that one suits you best!” Valeria pointed on a dress
“With these shoes?” Mary asked raising the shoes she chose.
“Yes…” Mary squealed and places it away gently.
“Okay see you tomorrow, it seems like you really need to take some sleep, good bye!” she said and went offline.
“Bye….” Valeria said lazily and fell on her bed, she quickly fell asleep. But the alarm clock went beeping and woke her up again; she groaned and hit the snooze button. She hopped in the shower and took a 5 minute bath, she rummaged through her dresser. She found a blue polo shirt, brown belt, skinny jeans and a pair of purple ballet flats. She blow dried her hair and tied it neatly, after that she applied a lip-gloss and a little bit of foundation, she then ran downstairs and grabbed her meal.
“Well, morning kiddo” his grandfather greeted
“Hello, grandpa, mom, and dad” she kissed them all in the cheeks, she grabbed a piece of bacon and shoved it on her mouth, after that she ran out, grabbed her bike and paddle her way to school. She met Cecily at the hall way while she heads for her first class, since they have different classes they have to part ways.
~After classes~
“Hey, we have no classes tomorrow. As ordered by the royal family, we are to have a vacation for one day and feel-free to walk around the town” Cecily squealed and clapped her hands like a child.
“But why?” Valeria asked,
“I don’t know, all I know was it's ordered and thye gave no other reasons but us teenagers needing vacation!” she shrugged, Valeria just grabbed her bike and head home, she had her bag on the basket at the front of the bike, her hands on the right places, her feet on the paddle and ready to go home. She opened the door of the house and spotted her grandfather cooking something. “Hey grandpa” she greeted him, giving a kiss on the cheek.
“Well hello kiddo” he greeted in return.
“Have no classes tomorrow, as ordered by the royal family” she said and ran to her bedroom immediately to chat with Mary.
~The Palace~
“I can’t believe you cancelled classes just for me to find her” Kevin told her parents
“Well, that’ll be much easier for you then, I already have informed the school and they gladly announced it to the student” King Kelandry said
“Well, you don’t have too” Kevin tried to object, but what’s done is done.
“Hush now my boy, I already have ordered a pair of glasses that has no…. whatever you call it, contact lenses and a wig” his father told him.
“But why? Do I need glasses and contact lenses?” he asked his father
“Sorry, son, but better be safe and sorry though! Now go to your room and prepare yourself tomorrow morning, all of what I ordered is already there, oh! And you’re lucky cause you’ll have tomorrow as a whole day vacation ” he said cutting off the conversation. Kevin sighed, he just placed his hands inside his pocket and headed to his chamber, he just can’t wait for tomorrow, tomorrow he shall be free.
~Next Morning, 9:00 p.m. Valeria’s house~
“Valeria! I need you to go to the store and buy me a few ingredients! You’re father will be home any minute!” Kayleigh yelled to her daughter, Valeria came rushing in to the kitchen.
“Yes mom!” she said, Kayleigh made a list and gave it to her.
“Mom, I think you want me to buy the whole store!” Valeria complained showing her the list her mother gave her.
“Hush now, I want you to be back in 30 minutes, my chicken will be overcooked” she told her, Valeria sighed and headed for the store, she looked at the list.
