At home
After dinner, I was sitting at the table on the attached terrace. Even during the dinner Aditi had been giving me cold shoulder. She was still upset about what I said yesterday.
That's why I'd brought a watch for her as a gift. Maybe she'd smile when she sees it.
But where is she?
I glanced toward the bedroom. What if she didn't even come to the terrace tonight and went straight to sleep? The thought made me uneasy. I stood up and walked quietly toward the bedroom door to check if she was already in bed.
Just then, I heard her footsteps approaching.
Panicking, I quickly rushed back to the table and sat down, pretending to be unbothered.
A moment later, she stepped onto the terrace in her pajamas. I noticed her from the corner of my eye. She had her hands folded behind her back, casually strolling as if she hadn't come there for me at all. She was deliberately looking everywhere except in my direction.
Meanwhile, I sat there watching her with an amused fondness.
Sensing my gaze, she abruptly tilted her face toward the sky, pretending to admire the stars while walking. Still looking upward, she moved forward and suddenly stumbled.
Her foot hit one of the plant pots.
I burst out laughing.
But the second she shot me a glare, my laughter died instantly.
"You kept this here on purpose, didn't you?" she accused, pointing at the pot. "So that I'd trip?"
"No" I replied defensively, folding my arms. "Why would I do that? It was already there. You weren't watching while you walked"
"Oh really?" she shot back. "You could've at least warned me to watch my step. You've been staring at me this whole time!"
I sighed, hiding a smirk.
"Oh, so you were feeling my gaze on you this whole time? And still pretending to ignore me?"
She cleared her throat, clearly caught. "Don't try to act oversmart" she snapped, rolling her eyes. "And don't even think I came here for you. I just came for a walk."
"But when did I say you came for me?" I replied innocently, the smile still tugging at my lips.
Now she was caught completely. She scoffed, lightly stomping her foot, unable to come up with a comeback.
"Ugh! I don't want to talk to you. I'm going to sleep" she declared and turned toward the bedroom.
"Fine" I said casually. "Go. I had brought something for you.... anyway i guess you don't want it"
She stopped mid-step.
"What?" she asked, glancing at me from the corner of her eye.
"What does it matter? You don't even want to talk to me" I shrugged, moving the shopping bag farther away.
Instead of going inside, she slowly turned toward the bag. Pretending she didn't care, she walked behind me, trying to sneak a peek inside.
I turned suddenly, and she straightened her posture at once, acting as if she'd done nothing.
"Weren't you going to sleep?" I asked.
