DAKSH
As Rajat's words sank in, a slow realization dawned on me.
He was right.
I had been pretending in front of Aditi acting cool, as if nothing bothers me when in reality I was hiding how I truly felt. The calm, indifferent husband I was trying to portray isn't really me.
"But what should I do now?" I asked Rajat, my voice heavy with regret.
"I already refused Aditi. I can't just show up there now."
"And who said you can't?" Rajat replied, raising an eyebrow.
"But... they must have already started hanging out by now" I said anxiously.
"What reason will I even give for suddenly showing up? And if I just appear out of nowhere, what will everyone think?"
Rajat chuckled softly. "Since when did you start caring about what people think, boss? Do you really need someone's permission just to be with your wife?"
I paused.
When he put it that way... he wasn't wrong. Why should I care what anyone thought about me?
"Let's go then" I said abruptly, grabbing my blazer and standing up.
A few minutes later, we were seated in the car.
"Drive to my house" I told Rajat.
He glanced at me in confusion. "But boss, weren't we going to the theme park?"
"We are" I replied calmly. "But before that, I need to pick up my pass"
"Your pass is at your house?" he asked, puzzled.
Instead of answering, I pulled out my phone and dialed a number.
The call rang for a few seconds before it was picked up.
"Hello, Rajveer" I said. "Get ready. We'll pick you up in twenty minutes."
I expected him to simply agree but then again, how could I forget he was Aditi's brother?
"What? Why?" he asked immediately.
"We're going to the theme park" I said.
"I already said I'm not going anywhere!" he snapped. "Stop calling again and again and disturbing my game!"
Before I could say another word, the call disconnected.
I let out a sharp breath. "Bilkul apni behen pr gya h"
[He's exactly like his sister.]
I dialed again.
This time he picked up after a few rings.
"Listen, Rajveer" I said, forcing patience into my voice. "Don't be stubborn. Just come with me, okay? I promise you won't have to sit on any rides. Just... please help me out."
"Then why are you even taking me?" he argued. "If you want to go so badly, just go by yourself!"
I closed my eyes briefly, already regretting the moment I had decided to ask him for help.
"Look" I tried again, softening my tone. "Please help me this once. Just come along with me. When we get there, you can sit in the car and play your game the whole time no one will disturb you. Alright?"
ADITI
We had been sitting outside the theme park since morning. Now it was almost afternoon, and Daksh still hadn't shown up.
"Bro, it's been four hours" Diksha said tiredly, stretching her legs. "There's still no sign of Daksh. I don't think he's coming. We're just wasting time here."
