DAKSH

The next morning, I was going through some files before leaving for work. Papers were spread across the table, and I was deeply focused. Rajveer was sitting on the couch nearby, playing games in his phone.

Just then, Aditi walked in, talking on her phone, heading towards me.
"Yeah, one second I'll ask and tell you" she said into the call before stopping in front of me.

"Acha, Daksh!" she called out.

"Hm, bolo" I replied absentmindedly, my eyes still scanning the documents.

"So... all my friends are going out together today" she began. "It's like a couples' thing, you know? Everyone's coming with their partners. We'll just meet up and hang out..."

She kept explaining while I nodded vaguely, not fully registering her words.

"So~" she trailed off.

I finally looked up at her. "So?"

"So... will you come with me?" she asked, her tone hopeful.

I sighed softly and shook my head. "What would I even do among your friends, Aditi? You go. Have fun."

Her face tightened with irritation. "Everyone's going with their boyfriend or girlfriend. If I go alone, how will that look? Come on, you come too!"

"Aditi, do I look like someone who enjoys hanging out in groups?" I said, offering her a small smile. "I don't like being around too many people. And I'm really busy today. You go and enjoy, okay?"

"But everyone will be with their partners, and I'll be the only one alone!" she huffed, upset.

Then she muttered under her breath
"Ek kaam krti hu mana hi kr deti hu, mujhe nai jana kahi!,

Na kahi lekar jate h or na hi Jane dete h" she said gritting her teeth.

[Fine. I won't go either then!
You don't take me anywhere, and you don't let me go anywhere either.]

I stared at her in disbelief. When did I stop her from going anywhere?
Before I could respond, she turned her attention back to her phone and put the call on speaker.

"Yaar Diksha, I won't be able to come. Daksh is busy today" she said flatly.

From the speaker, Diksha's voice chirped cheerfully "It's okay, Aditi, just come alone! It won't be fun at the amusement park without you."

Amusement park?
My attention immediately shifted towards Aditi.

"No yaar" Aditi replied. "You all will be there with your partners. I don't want to sit on all the rides alone."

"Oh please, you won't be alone" Diksha continued casually. "Aditya is coming alone too. He'll give you comp-"

"WHAAAT?!"
