We were sitting on the dining table waiting for the food to be served.

"Why didn't you inform me before, that you were coming?" I asked Rajveer while he shook his head in return.

"I did, pr tu phone uthaegi Tb na!"

[You just don't pick up the call]

Then I remembered he did called me in the morning, even grandma told me about it, but when I tried to call back, it was unreachable.

"Oh, I guess my phone was on silent" I say, and check my phone and saw his missed calls, but my eyes brightens when I saw mumma's missed call.

Even she called me after knowing about my health, and here I was thinking she doesn't care about me.
Without wasting any second I call back in excitement.

The line rings and she picks up after two rings.

"Hello"

"Hello mumma"
I'm so happy that she called me, after so many days, to check on me, I was expecting her to ask me about my health or scold me for not taking care of myself properly.

"Beta is Rajveer there?" She asked and my smile slightly fades.

"Yeah, he is" I reply looking at Rajveer who was busy playing games in his phone.

"Can you give the phone to him" she asks.

"Yea..h sure," I turn towards Rajveer to give the phone to him, but he seemed pretty busy in his phone.

"Ma wants to talk to you"

"I'm busy right now, I'll talk to her later" he said not even bothering to look up.

"Rajveer, talk to her.
She is worried about you, tell her that you reached here safely" I whispered to him while he released a sharp breath keeping his phone aside and stood up from his seat.

"I need to go to the washroom" saying he went away, I blinked, puzzled by his behavior.

"Mumma, i guess he's a bit tired right now, after the long journey, but Don't worry I'll tell him to talk to you later" I assured her.

"Oh, okay..." she shighs before speaking further, "Take care of him. These days he's becoming quite stubborn. If he insists on staying over for a few days, let him. His board exams are coming up, so he's very stressed. When you were here, you used to help him study, but now he has to manage everything on his own-maybe that's why he's acting this way," she said, and I just hummed in response.
I was waiting for her to ask about me too, but she just kept talking about him.

"Make sure he doesn't spend the whole day just playing games and focuses on his studies as well," she added.

"Don't worry, Ma. I'll help him prepare for exams properly," I assured her, and she sighed in relief.
"And you know, I also have my ca-" I was about to tell her about my own exams, but she cut me off.

"Okay beta, I'll call you later. It's time for your father's medication."

"Oh... okay, I'll call back later then," I said.
My throat tightened at her behavior-not even once did she ask how I was doing, how I had been, or about my health-but I still managed a slight smile as Grandma and Daksh were looking at me.
