DAKSH
"If she wears your shoes, she might not even be able to walk properly…"Rajat said, drawing everyone’s attention.
"It's okay, Daksh. I'll manage in heels I'm used to it, chill" Aditi replied casually.
"No, Aditi. You’ve been in heels since morning. Just wear my Crocs, you’ll be more comfortable" Aditya insisted. Before anyone could object, he had already slipped them off and gently helped her into them.
And I stood there, dumbfounded.
And then, as if that wasn’t enough, he picked up her heels in his hands and started to walk.
That’s when I snapped.
"Give me that."
I took away her heels from him before he could even react, forcing my voice to stay calm. Without another word, everyone resumed walking, but inside me, a storm was raging.
Look at him walking around carrying my wife’s sandals like it’s his job.
The audacity.
Who does he think he is, offering his footware to my wife?
She’s my wife. If she’s uncomfortable, I’m the one who’s supposed to fix it.
Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed Rajat stepping closer.
"Boss, give me Aditi ma’am’s heels. You walk comfortably" he offered.
I shot him a deadly glare.
"Quiet! Not a single word" I snapped under my breath. "This is all happening because of you."
Rajat immediately looked away, intimidated. "But boss… what did I even do?"
"You talk too much" I hissed. "She was perfectly fine wearing my shoes, and you had to interrupt and ruin everything."
"Boss, if Aditi ma’am wore your shoes, she would’ve tripped and fallen. They’re too big. I only said it thinking about her"
Rajat replied softly, eyes lowered.
"Oh really?" I shot back. "You were the same one yelling at me for sending her on a date with that guy. And now, because of you, she’s walking around in his Crocs! If you actually cared about me, you would’ve come up with a better solution."
Rajat’s shoulders slumped. "Sorry, boss…"
"I don’t want your sorry" I muttered sharply. "Listen carefully right now, you’re going to get a new pair of croc- no not crocs he's already wearing that, Order sneakers. Size 7 sneakers
I need them within 5 minutes!"
Rajat blinked in panic. "But boss… even delivery takes at least ten minutes. How am I supposed to get them in five?"
"I don’t care how you do it" I cut him off coldly. "Go get them yourself if you have to. But if they’re not here in five minutes… the anger I’m holding back for that guy? It’s all coming out on you. Understood?"
Rajat swallowed hard. "Okay, boss. I’ll get them right away."
And with that, he hurried off.
I was walking beside Aditi.
"Why did you even wear heels when you knew they’d hurt your feet?" I asked quietly, my eyes fixed ahead.
"You’re the one who said I'm a shortie" she replied, also looking straight. "So I had to work on being taller."
I turned to look at her.
I only said I like your small height… I sighed inwardly. She must’ve thought I was teasing her.
I closed my eyes for a brief second, feeling a pang of regret.
Why don’t I think before I speak?
Before I could say anything else, I noticed harsh sunlight was falling directly on her face. She was struggling to keep her eyes open, squinting as she tried to walk.
