Chapter 4: Meeting everyone

Two weeks later:

As I finished getting dressed I walk out onto the balcony. I am starting to get used to wearing these long dresses and living in the the old ways. I lean against a white pillar and look out over the beautiful Rivendell. I start seeing groups of people arriving. I know one group has already arrived, Arwen went out and brought back Frodo! And then a day later three hobbits, Sam, Pippin and merry, as well as a man named strider also known as Aragorn.

I look out to the entrance and see a group of scruffy looking men entering the city, they looked ordinary and I recognised one as Boromir. Secondly a group of small hairy folk arrived, I recognise them as dwarves. In the middle was a grouchy ginger bearded dwarf I knew was named Gimli. Lastly a group of elves enter with so much grace. I look over and see an elf with long blonde hair like the person from my dream. The elf turned around admiring his surroundings and I see that it is Legolas.

I lean ever so slightly further over the balcony to get a better view of the elf and I feel something in my stomach, like butterflies or pain

I lean ever so slightly further over the balcony to get a better view of the elf and I feel something in my stomach, like butterflies or pain. Either way it doesn't feel pleasant. I look at the pale complexion of the elf, he has such perfect hair, bright mesmerising blue eyes and a strong build. I cant take my eyes off of him- knock knock. I hear on my door and I am snapped away from my gaze.

I open the door to find Arwen smiling  happily, "Good morning Caitlin, the guests have arrived who will be attending Elrond's council so I was wandering maybe you should be acquainted with them before the meeting starts" Arwen explains, "oh right, yes okay. Do you know when the council will start?" I ask politely, I feel in this world with all the elves I should always be polite.

"It starts late in the evening after everyone has settled in" Arwen replies and we both walk down the halls to the dinning area, where I see men, dwarves and elves dotted everywhere in their groups.

Arwen guides me towards the group of men "men from Gondor I introduce Caitlin who will also be attending Elrond's council" Arwen introduces me making feel ever so slightly awkward. "What is a woman going to help us with?" he says in a spiteful tone, "well to be honest I don't actually know. But I'm sure I will find something! Women are stronger than men on the inside." I exclaim back and he looks slightly taken aback. "My names Boromir from Gondor, where are you from Caitlin?" he questions me looking curious. What am I supposed to say "a long way from here" I reply and walk off with Arwen following behind me.

Next Arwen takes me over to the dwarves who seem a little nicer but they do have a disagreement with the elves. "Caitlin this is Gimli son of Gloin, he will be attending the council as well, Gimli this is Caitlin" She introduces. "You lass are coming to the council? Well I guess we might need a woman to keep control" Gimli states making me laugh. "Hello Gimli and yes I am attending the council, hoping to put my input to the meeting" I tell him with an awkward laugh because at the present time I have no input to the meeting.  I slowly walk away from the dwarves before they ask more questions.  "You are gaining a very mysterious reputation, I'm not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing" Arwen tells me as we head to the next group.

Arwen takes me over to the group of elves, "Legolas from Mirkwood, I introduce you to Caitlin". Legolas turns around from Arwen to face me and he's quiet, not one word is said. I see his bright blue eyes and he smiles.

"Hello" he shortly says in a deep but southing tone, "hi" I squeak out, wow what is wrong with me? I cough to clear my throat and to avoid the awkward silence

"I've heard from Lord Elrond that you will be attending the council. I am glad there will be different opinions in this meeting" he kindly says to me. "Well that is if I know what anyone is talking about" I reply back truthfully, and hear Legolas chuckle which is a beautiful sound i must say. "I'm sure you will. Could I ask, where are you from Caitlin? At first I thought you were a Rivendell elleth but you are not" he questions and I'm quite honoured that he thought I was an elf, as I am not graceful like elves are.

"I'm from a small town a long way from here, you probably wont know it" I laugh trying to avoid the question. "And I am honoured but definitely not an elf, I lack a lot of grace, I also don't have the ears" I reply with a slight giggle pointing to my ears. "Yes the ears is what gave it away" he laughs and smiles looking into my eyes.  Just looking at me makes me blush a bright red and I am speechless I don't know what to say so we just smile at each other. Ok I realise I'm starting to day dream. "Okay well we will be over there" Arwen interrupts and moves me over to the other side of the dinning room.

"Well you and Legolas seem to be getting along well" Arwen teases, "I guess he is quite charming" I reply and head over to get a drink

"Well you and Legolas seem to be getting along well" Arwen teases, "I guess he is quite charming" I reply and head over to get a drink. What I didn't tell you is that my favourite character in the books is Legolas but he is so much better in person face to face.

I am still confused on how all this is happening and why.
