Chapter 26: The battle

As Braelyn and I reach the bottom of the steps we hear a horn blow as the gates are opened, and an army of elves march in. We stare in awe as they move so graceful up the steps towards us. Théoden walks down the stairs and meets the Elf Captain Haldir, I didn't realise the king and the guys were behind us. "How is this possible?" the king questions in disbelief looking at all the elvish soldiers.  "I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between elves and men. Long ago we fought and died together." Haldir announces looking stern at the Theoden. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli rush down the stairs towards the elves, "We come to honour that allegiance." Haldir continues speaking more towards Aragorn.
"Mae govannen, Haldir!" (Welcome, Haldir!) Aragorn exclaims in elvish as he stands before the elf and then hugs him. Haldir, a little surprised, returns the gesture. "You are most welcome."
Soon Legolas comes down the stairs and embraces Haldir as well like old friends. The army of elves turn and lower their bows and shields in unison. Well Legolas is royalty I think, which is impressive, I cant be royalty, way to much pressure. "We are proud to fight alongside men, once more." The captain exclaims smiling slightly at us all.

-----------------------

Braelyn and I were walking towards our spot that we would start at for the battle. I notice Braelyn stop "you alright?" I ask walking back a few paces to stand in front of her, she nods her head slowly. "Its just if I don't make it, I wanna say that you have been the bestest friend I could ask for on this quest. In Lothlorien I had friends but they didn't seem to connect with me due to them being elves and I'm a wizard." she sighs "but with you, we haven't known each other long and you aren't a wizard but you welcomed me into the fellowship and I'm so grateful to have you" she finishes and I just pull her into a hug making her laugh with shock. "I'm not very good at soft stuff like that but I'm so glad I met you especially with me being the only girl. It was getting awkward just being with guys" I laugh, "and well we will survive this so we don't need to say goodbye" I explain with a few tears in my eyes. We walk to our spot on the wall, Legolas to my left and Braelyn to my right.

Sarumans orc/urk hai army slowly approaches, shouting and rumbling. Gimli has some trouble seeing over the wall so I see in the corner of my eye he keeps going on his tip toes trying to see over the wall, this makes me start laughing that I actually snort. "Argh. You could have picked a better spot." he grumbles as Legolas, Braelyn and I smirk at him. Aragorn walks forward to us,  "Well lad, the luck you live by, let's hope it lasts the night." Gimli states to him as lightning and a rumble of thunder is heard above us and it starts to pour it down with rain. "Greattt" Braelyn sarcastically whispers.

"Your friends are with you, Aragorn." Legolas points out staring straight ahead. "Let's hope they last the night." Gimli grumbles, he's always so positive.

The troops of Saruman walk forward, carrying torches and long spears. I feel my body shake, I am terrified, I just didn't want to just sit in the caves and do nothing.                                               "A Eruchîn, ú-dano i faelas a hyn an uben tanatha le faelas!" (Show them no mercy! For you shall receive none!) Aragorn yells to the army like a true king, Braelyn also translates for me beside me.

The Uruk-hai stop. Aragorn walks forward and looks down at the huge army.

"What's happening out there?" Gimli asks trying to look over the top of the wall.

"Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?" Legolas jokes making us all smile. He looks to me smiles and squeezes my hand, then releasing it and whispers "remember what I said, stay by my side" I smile then look forward to the ugly army ahead.

The Uruks pound their spears and roar. The men and elves in the fortress ready their weapons, I take my bow out and take an arrow so I'm ready to shoot.  I actually haven't used this in a while so I'm a little shaky and I accidentally shoots# an arrow, hitting an orc. Everything goes silent, as the orc falls down, dead. Oops that wasn't supposed to happen, 'sorry' I mime to Aragorn. Well at least I hit the target. The  Uruks roar in anger and charge at the wall, as the army below runs forward, the elves prepare to shoot their arrows. "Faeg i-varv dîn na lanc a nu ranc." (Their armor is weak at the neck and under the arms.) Legolas yells over the noise of the Uruks, "Leithio i philinn!" (Fire!) Aragorn shouts as I release another arrow seeing it hit an uruk. The arrows are released and the Uruks are showered with arrows. But nope more uruks are charging at us. "Anybody hit anything?" Gimli asks with his axe ready for a fight, "I actually did hit something witch surprises me" I joke making him laugh. More arrows are shot and more uruks fall dead.
