Chapter 23: Maybe it was mistake or maybe it was fate.
The Rohan people walk in a single line leading away from Edoras. I was sat on the back of the horse nearly nodding off, i could barely keep my eyes open. But i heard Gimli who was on his own horse talking about lady dwarves which was making me laugh. I saw Aragorn mime a beard and whispers "its the beards". Eowyn laughs and looks at him in the eyes and I remember that she starts to fall in love with him and I really feel bad for her. Soon Gimli's horse rears up and gallops off making Gimli fall into the dirt. I was laughing so much because I knew he wasn't hurt and his reaction make me laugh. "It's alright. Nobody panic. That was deliberate" he continues to say as he picks himself up. "Of course it was Gimli" I tease and he just glares at me before smiling as well. Soon I lay my head down on Legolas' back and I drift off to sleep. I get woken when the horses start to come to a stop and riders start to make camp. Legolas helps me down holding onto my waist making me blush as I walk over to Braelyn who has become one of my best friends, its nice to have a girl around now, before I was stuck with boys all the time.
I went and sat at the back of the came underneath the trees thinking I couldn't be seen as i wanted to be alone to think. Eowyn came round handing bowls of soup, I saw her give Aragorn some and the look on his face told me that it was revolting. I laughed to myself at his reaction.
A few minutes later Legolas walks over, I didn't think he would find me since I'm right at the back in the dark. But I didn't mind Legolas being there. "Why are you all alone away from everyone else?" I hear him ask. I don't look at him I just look forward but I could feel his eyes on me.
"I just wanted to think some things through" I reply truthfully. "Think what things through?" he questions in a worried tone, I turn to look at him and just smile "stuff" I reply plainly making him chuckle. I look back to the sky and take a deep sigh. "What was that long sigh for? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but you're acting different and I just want to know you are alright" Legolas' tone gets more serious. I quickly turn my head towards him and realise that our faces were very close together. "I... We-ll you know I'm from another world right. So at the end of this quest I will have to return there." I explain as my tone falls slightly. "Inside I'm split, I want to go back to the way things were, my normal life with my family. But then the other half of me says I want to stay here and explore middle earth and stay connected with the fellowship." I exclaim in a quiet tone still our faces were close together and I was looking into his blue beautiful eyes.
I notice him leaning closer "I want you to stay" he whispers against my lips looking into my eyes but then flickering to my lips. My breathing is getting heavier, I'm starting to panic but I want it to happen. He leans in closer and connects his lips to mine, I close my eyes and feel the warmth in my chest as I kiss back. The kiss may have only lasted 5 seconds until we pull apart and my eyes go wide as is suddenly realise what just happened.
I stand up and I think that was mistake. If I have to leave Middle earth forever I will never see Legolas again and that kiss just made it a whole lot harder. I quickly walk off going into a run as I think of the kiss making me happy but also making me feel sad. I head into my sleeping tent I'm sharing with Braelyn. I close the tent harshly and fall onto my sleeping bag.
"Erm... Are you ok?" Braelyn careful asks watching me aggressively close the tent.
"Legolas just kissed me!" I burst out in a whisper in case anyone outside the tent hears me. Braelyn's eyes widened "no way!" she exclaims. "What happened? Aren't you happy? Why are you angry?" she burst out with all these questions. I laugh "we were just talking and it happened, yes I was happy in the moment cause it felt perfect and I'm angry because I'm going back to my world at the end of this quest and probably wont be able to come back!" I exclaim to her without stopping for a breath.

Braelyn pulls me into a hug "maybe you will be able to figure out how you can stay here or come back. Didn't you see your future was an elven child? That must mean something" she states and I completely forgot about the future I was shown. "Yes I know and even if I find away back or I stay here doesn't change that I'm mortal and he's immortal" I explain and she just looks at me, even a wizard doesn't know what to say. Even when I find a solution to one problem, another problem occurs. I lie down and eventually fall asleep.
Legolas' P.O.V:
I'm left alone under the trees. I thought she felt the same way as me but now I am unsure. I wonder why she ran away from me after kissing back.
After Caitlin ran off I walk back over to the camp wandering where she went. I cant see her so I walk over to where I see Aragorn and Gimli talking. I stand beside Aragorn, "what did you do?" Aragorn questions straight away. "What are you talking about?" I ask quietly. "We just saw the lass run off looking very confused and happy and then confused again" Gimli mumbled pointing to her and Braelyns tent. I go quiet, "I- I kissed her" I tell them looking at the floor. I hear laughing from Aragorn and Gimli, "what's so funny?" I ask sternly. "We knew it was bound to happen. Picked a great moment though" they tease as I roll my eyes. "I don't know why I did it, I just been waiting for so long and it just happened. She reciprocated it, that must mean something" I exclaim as Aragorn nodded. "I've been through it, I understand. You should probably get some rest though. It might be a bit tense in the morning between you two now" he says as I nod and head for my tent. I walk in and just stand in the middle.
I kissed her. I actually kissed her. It was a mistake. But I want to do it again. She's mortal. I'm immortal. I think I like her. But she's a friend. A companion. But I think I love her.
