She made eye contact handing me the cup of water. I glanced around the room as though admitting it to a ghost who'd haunt me forever, "My husband." I saw her eyes widened as I took a shaky breath. "Is now dead." I saw her face go pale, she smoothed her expression out offering her condolences. Apologizing for my loss. As I explained everything I knew.

I continued helping around the village with everything I could, and patrolling often around the bay. I didn't want to go far but sometimes at night I'd go back to the sea stacks and just sit There watching the waters. Today was no different except I left a little later for my patrol and consequently to my visit to the sea stacks. I used the excuse that starlight needed to hunt eels. And I needed more sea slugs for Wren, neither of which was false. So while Starlight did that we went to a nearby island littered with sea slugs. I cracked my back, wiping my eyes, tired as all hell.

There was smoke far too much and a ship's trail headed away from the island odd? If any hunter ships come I see them. They always wait and hide. I landed before the trail to the great protectors den wading through the gifts I saw hiccup, heather and the others at spear point. "Mala!" I shouted Wren flew at me in front of them overlaid on the black cloak I wore. "My warrior has returned. Hiccup haddock now you won't get away even if your dragon intervenes." Mala's sword was at my brother's neck. "My warrior, they were a distraction leading to the hunters stealing the great protector." I nodded, still facing her at her side.

"Let them go Mala. They didn't do it." Not willingly. She didn't believe me at first. "Friend's of mine from home." Her sword lowered. But Heather stayed in their clutches. "She is not from the hooligan tribe. She has a different crest. An imposter." Mala snarled, as she explained. "You must let her go too." Mala's grip tightened. "She's with us." Hiccup said, "She's Dagur's sister." Mala looked at me and nodded as her guards stopped. "Your highness I'll leave at once to get the great protector back and bring him home."

"We will help." Hiccup proclaimed. "Leave hiccup, you've already caused me enough problems. I'll clean up." My left hand tightened. "I'll accompany you warrior." I looked at Mala about to argue but her gaze held certainty there was nothing I could say to change her mind. "All of you leave, I'm more than capable. We're burning daylight, your highness." She nodded, "No, to make up for our mistake we will come you can ride with me." Hiccup argued as my head swiveled. "Fine Hiccup Haddock-"

Someone was in the bushes, and I dodged arrows along with Mala "Take to the air!" Hiccup shouted but Mala drew her sword. "Get us outta here Hookfang!" Snotlout shouted as he was flung in front of Mala when he went to sit up. He took an arrow to the helmet she charged into the bushes taking care of the hunters. I held my own sword to one of their necks. "Where is Viggo going?" I questioned lowly, "North! Viggo went North with the dragon!" I sighed, putting the sword in my holder.

Toothless kept growling, "Back off, bud. We should go rescue your dragon and bring it back. I'll even leave some people here to help you fight the lava." Hiccup continued having not caught her agreement from before. "Only your best." Mala stated. "Heather's a survivalist, she's dealt with lava before. And Ruff and Tuff..." I glanced over Tuffnut was choking on a stun dart and then he coughed it up knocking Ruffnut unconscious alongside him.

"Uh, let's just say they... have a lot of experience cleaning up stuff. You can trust us. I swear it." Hiccup continued. Mala looked over to me, I only nodded. "I accept your offer, and I will be tracing with you, I will do whatever it takes to save The Great Protector. But if you fail me, I will kill you. If you attempt an escape, I will kill you. If I think, at any time-"
