This theory claims that Lion Steven's pet is actually his mom Rose Quarts after she is reincarnated. So Rose was once the leader of the Crystal Gems and had a caring and loving personality until she sacrificed herself when Steven was born and he now has her gem. Lion is Steven's pet and guardian and it is believed that Rose shapeshifted into Lion after she died as it is revealed Gems are capable of shapeshifting but remain the same color. Lion's mane is also the shape of an upside down star and Rose had it on her stomach where her gem was. Lion also can store an alternate dimension in his fur where some of Rose's personal belongings are. He also has given access to some of her weaponry. Many people say that this theory can't be true because Lion is presumably a boy however the gems are genderless or agender. Also the gems still retain them when they shapeshift and Lion has no Gem Steven does, but what if Lion is just Steven's familiar?
