Epilogue

College was a lot harder than I expected it to be, but after being at Yale for three years, I pretty much had the hang of it. I was studying for the finals that would start in two days.
After this you get to go home for the summer.
I kept telling myself this mantra to motivate my studying. I really needed to focus and pass these exams.
The noise outside in the hallway warned me before my roommates crashed into our room.
"Come on man it's our last night of freedom before testing!" Paul screamed in my ear. Jesus he was drunk already.
"Yeah and then we'll have two months of freedom," I pointed out.
"You need to get out more," Chris complained.
"I get out enough," I replied.
"You haven't gone out enough since Brenda left you," Lucas whined as he sat on my desk.
"Guys, I need to ace these this year," I told them.
"Oh come on, you aced them last year. What makes this year any different?" Chris said.
"They're harder this year."
"Fine, be no fun. Whatever. We'll be back with shots for you," Paul decided as he left the room. Lucas and Chris soon followed. I shook my head and turned the page in my Advanced Journalism book to continue taking notes.
My phone buzzed and I saw a random number flash across the screen. Of course I ignored it, but just like every time a random number called me, she came to mind.
Morgan Harris.
Even after all this time apart, she still crossed my mind. Especially when a random number called. I flipped my phone over so I couldn't see the screen. My memories betrayed me anyways.
"Who's number is this?" Brenda asked as she went through my contacts. Brenda and I had been dating for about three months.
"Uh, that's Morgan's number."
"Yeah, I can see that. But who's Morgan?"
"Um..." I couldn't exactly lie to her. "She's my ex-girlfriend from high school." I winced at her scowl.
"And why do you still have her number?" Brenda asked. I shrugged, but I knew that this meant trouble.
"We tried to stay in touch."
"Mmhm," she sounded skeptical as she dialed Morgan's number and put it on speaker phone.
"Bonjour? Qui est-ce?" A groggy, very deep male voice answered the phone in French.
"Yeah hello, is this Morgan..." Brenda looked at the phone for her last name, "Harris's phone?"
"Uh, yes. Who is this?" The man's English was slow and he seemed tired. "Why are you calling at two in the morning?" I forgot about the time change between America and France.
"Are you her boyfriend?" Brenda asked hopefully.
"Yes."
"I've heard enough. Goodbye." After that Brenda deleted Morgan's number from my phone.
I shook my head to try to get her out of it. I didn't want Brenda in there and I certainly didn't want Morgan in there. Morgan was too far away to be thinking about her after three years of being apart. She'd gotten into the French study program with BU, and I was still proud of her, but I knew I had to forget about her.
