Chapter 16

Seth

The next two weeks were spent cramming in study sessions between baseball, Key Club, and work. Several times during those weeks Rose, Morgan, Wes, Rebecca, and I fell asleep on each other's bedroom floors. Usually we studied at my house, Morgan's house, or Rebecca's house since that's usually where we set up study groups.

Then came the AP exams. I only had two, as did Wes and Morgan, but Rebecca and Rose both had four AP exams this year. That would have made my brain break, I was sure of it.

After all of the exams were over, Wes threw a party at his house. It wasn't just a party for the five of us, but a party open to the entire George Matthews High School student body. I went because all of my friends were going.

"I hate parties," John said. He and I were sitting at a table with Rose and Morgan.

"Then why are you here?" Rose asked.

"I don't know," he said. Then he took his keys and phone from the table and left.

"Well that was fun," I said sarcastically.

"Where's Ray?" Rose asked.

"Probably drunk," I answered.

"Where's Karen?" She asked.

"Probably drunk," Morgan answered.

"I honestly don't want to know where Wes and Rebecca are."

"How did Wes even get all of these people to come to his house? I don't get it." Morgan asked.

"A party is a party, people come." Rose shrugged.

Then a guy came over and asked Rose to dance with him and Morgan encouraged her to go. Rose went with him and disappeared into the sea of dancing people.

"And then there were two," Morgan said as she took a sip of her soda. I laughed and took a sip of my own soda. God this was so boring. Morgan kept bouncing in her chair and checking her phone every three seconds.

"You seem jittery," I told her.

"What? Oh... Yeah I'm waiting for Mallory to text me back."

"Why?"

"Well before we started studying for AP exams and all that I told her to ask Parker if he's being bullied or not and of course, she forgot, so she's trying to find out tonight while they go to their dad's house," she rambled.

"Parker's being bullied?" I asked in shock.

"I don't know, but I think he might be." There was really nothing to say to that, so I was silent. After a few moments, she spoke up again.
