Chapter 29

Nia

It's been a week since Chris & I been officially dating. So far so good, I can see myself with him. Words can't explain how much I love him, I can't even hide that anymore.

I was on my way to drop Ariana off at Mario's. I pulled up in front of his apartment and parked. I decided to go in and speak today.

"Can I come over again next weekend?" Ariana asked.

"You can come over whenever you want too baby. You never have to ask, and you know that." I smiled at her.

I let Ari stay with Mario since Jayden stays on campus at college, don't want him to be too lonely.

Ariana opened the door with her key, and I followed behind her to the second floor.

"Dad." Ariana screamed as she opened the door.

Mario peeped his head from around the corner.

"Sup baby girl." He jogged over to give her a bear hug.

"I missed you." A big smile formed on Ari's face.

"I missed you more Ari." He pecked her forehead. "Go put your belongings away. Are you hungry? We can go grab some lunch in a few."

"No Chris cooked a big breakfast, I'm still full." Ari yelled from her room.

I seen the face expression on Mario's face, he didn't seem quite happy.

"Nia, look at you lookin' all gorgeous as usual." Mario hugged me causing me to laugh.

"Still crazy, huh?" I smacked him upside his head.

"How you been? How's the new baby?"

"I been wonderful, she's growing each day. Reminds me of Ari when she was a baby."

"That's wonderful."

"How about you are you seeing anybody?" I asked Mario.

Mario was in a daze until his phone began to ring.

"Don't leave yet. I have to take this call. I'll be right back, help yourself to something to drink or a snack."

Typical Mario with his busy life, I see nothing changed.

I took the time to walk around his apartment and check out the pictures he had hanging up on his living room walls. Most of the pictures are of Ariana and Jayden when they were babies.

I heard Mario get a little loud on the phone, so I creeped around the corner so I could listen better.

"Joyce, what do you want me to do? I can't help you. Get your lame ass son to bail you out!"

I gasped as I listened, Mario knows Chris's mom?

"Don't you throw that shit in my face. I made a mistake sleeping with you while i was with Nia."

I held my hand over my mouth as I slowly backed away. I heard the bathroom door open. Mario gave me a confused.

"Nia, what's wrong? I apologize for taking-."

I cut him off with a slap to his face. Mario held the side of his face.

"What the fuck you do that for?" Mario mumbled.

"You fucking lying bastard! All those nights I was lonely, you were fucking my boyfriend's mom. You made me feel bad about cheating, made it seem like I was the bad person in the relationship when you were doing the same damn thing!" I punched him in his chest.

"How long was the shit going on?" I screamed.

"Nia, it-." I cut him off.

"How long?" I yelled over top of him.

"A couple of months." He answered. "Nia, I'm sorry."

"Yes you're very sorry, fuck you Mario!" I shook my head at him as I stormed out of his apartment.

"Nia wait..." He called after me.

"Tell my daughter to call me if she need me, I don't want shit else to do with you." I angrily slammed my car door shut.

Chris

I sat across from my mom. Who would've ever known I'd see her behind bars.

"Hey baby." My mom smiled at me.

"Wassup mama?" I licked my lips.

"I miss you."

"I miss you too. Ma, why are you here?"

"If I tell you, you'll never forgive me." A tear slipped from her eye. "I was being so selfish, I thought I found love. Love makes you do crazy things baby."

"So tell me what happened? I can't help you if you don't tell me."

"You wouldn't want to help me after you hear this." My mom gulped.

"About a year ago I met the most finest man..."

Flashback. (Told in Joyce's POV."

I rode past a new restaraunt that finally opened in V.A, I heard the manager owned one in a few states now.

I decided to stop by and grab something to eat just to check it out. A white lady with jet black hair seated me.

"I would like to speak with the manager." I blurted out.

I thought the customer service there was horrible, or maybe it was just this one particular lady.

A tall light brown skinned man with pretty blue eyes walked over and took my breath away. I forgot why I was mad, the hell I wasn't even mad anymore.

"Good afternoon m'am. One of my employees asked me to come assist you. Is everything alright?"  He stuck his hands in his pocket.

"Everything is fine now." I smirked. "I'm Joyce."

"Mario." He stuck his hand out and I shook it.

"I heard you own more then one restaraunt. I'm amazed." I flirted.

"Yeah I travel to different states. Thank you." He smiled at me. God his smile was even more beautiful.

"I know a fine man like you can't be single."

"I'm not, I'm married and I have 2 kids back in cali."

I instantly felt crushed, I knew it was to good to be true but I couldn't help it. I wanted this man.

"Let's just say you made a new friend." I got up from the table and whispered in his ear. "If you change your mind give me a call." I stuck my number in his pocket.

Flashback over.

"Let me guess he called the number?" Chris asked.

I nodded my head.

"When I found out you were messing with his wife, it pissed me off even more. I hated her guts, she had the man I wanted and she had my son."

"I hired Sanaa to kill her, but obviously she didn't die."

Chris eyes widened. "So you had something to do with the car accident?"

"It was my plan, but Sanaa was doing my dirty work for me. Baby I am so sorry."

"I always knew you were crazy, but I didn't think you were psycho crazy." Chris got up. "I can't believe you would do some shit like that. Ma you almost got us killed, including your grandchild. Can't believe you would be so damn selfish." Chris shook his head at me.

"Christopher." I cried after him, he didn't even bother to turn around.

"Times up." The security guards walked me back to my cell.
