I sat cross legged on the floor in nothing but a towel staring at the open wardrobe in front of me, having no idea at all of what to wear.
Blondie: Where are we going? X
My number one footballer <3 : It's a secret, but dress fancy 😎👗👠💄 X
Blondie: Not helpful. X
My number one footballer <3 : I got a way of covering to my mum, but I'll need to sneak into yours afterwards and stay the night, if that's ok? But your mum can't see me 👼 X
Blondie: What's your cover? X
My number one footballer <3 : I'll explain later, you got Michael to 'pick you up' at 7 right?
Blondie: Yeah, it's all sorted, I feel really bad 😈 X
My number one footballer <3 : But you're a good girl. X
Blondie: Good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught I guess 👼 See you later X
Deciding that it was warm enough for a shorter dress, I pulled a short black dress from my wardrobe that I was given for my 18th birthday from my mum, but I hadn't worn it. Thankfully, I hadn't grown too much since, and I practically slipped into it. It took me a long time to fasten it, but I managed to squeeze myself in eventually.
I stared at myself in the mirror as it neared 7. I had the black dress on, which was thigh length and frayed out at the waist. On my feel were my blue heels, matching my hair and lifting me a few inches taller, but I still knew that Calum would tower over me. My hair fell in loose curls down my front and stopped just below my boobs, with a small braid bringing it all to one side. I grabbed my phone and my clutch from the side and walked precariously down the stairs, trying not to trip.
It was almost 7 and I walked into the living room where mum was mid-twister with the twins.
"I'm off now, I'm meting Mikey at the bottom of the road so that he doesn't have to come and turn around up here." I chuckled as mum fell from the twister game and stood up to walk towards me.
"Oh, I need to tell Michael to give this to Karen for me," mum mumbled, furrowing in the drawer.
"No no mum, leave him alone, were going out, we don't want to have to tell Karen your messages. Can't you just ring her and tell her to get it tomorrow?"
"You're very nervous Riley, almost defensive. Is thee something you're not telling me?" She smirked, almost defiantly knowing what was going on.
"Oh, no. I just...I just don't want to be handing Michael of all people the responsibility to give that to Karen, you know what he's like." I laughed it off, hoping that she would believe me.
"Oh, it's because I saw Calum leave in a suit only a few minutes ago. You two seem to be getting closer lately." She said, oh so innocently. Yep, she got it.
"He must be going out with one of his other girls, you know what these footballers are like." I smiled, trying to cover it up.
"Oh, because Joy said that he told her that he was going to stay at with his friend from the academy who's touring with his band. But I don't think you wear a suit to go to a gig."
"Surely they saw him leave." Calum.
"They've gone out for dinner with Mali. But he looked very scratchy as he left, he kept looking at our house for some reason. He looked away when he saw me." She grinned. "And it's funny because I just rang Karen and she says that Michael has no plans for tonight, yet he clearly hasn't cancelled with you. So come on Riley, admit it."
I sighed at the realisation that I had Sherlock for a mother.
"Yes mum, I'm going on a date with Calum. Wow, big deal. Now, can I go now?"
She huffed before waving me off. "Just be careful Riley, you said it yourself, you know what those footballers are like. He seems like a nice boy, but there's something about him that I can't just put my finger on. But have a lovely time."
