My fist came in contact with the girl's nose all too soon. Apparently she wasn't that surprised, because though she fell back catching the blood that gushed from her now-maybe-broken nose, she had already flung a wild foot in my direction.

It hit me in the stomach, knocking away all my air. I fell to the floor but stood up almost immediately after. I was not going to let some rude little brat win this fight, even if it meant I was dragged away in pieces. This time instead of punching or kicking, I grabbed the girl's hair and yanked her down to knee her in the stomach.

By that point everyone in the Starbucks had noticed our fight, and had formed a small crowd around us. A couple of people rushed forward to break us apart, but I shoved them away. The girl ripped herself out of my grip, then clawed at my face with her long nails. I shrieked and backed away, feeling warm blood drip down my cheeks.

Before more people could try and pull us away from each other I slapped the girl across the face. She yelped and reached out to hit me again, but someone had tugged her out of reach. I felt a pair of hands on my own waist, yanking me away from her.

I squealed again, trying to run forward and break loose from this person restraining me. They had a strong grip, though, and I couldn't get away. The girl I had been fighting was covered in blood from her nose and screaming in an unwomanly tone. She was doing the same thing as I was - trying to break away from her holder and attack again.

I felt tears mixing with the blood that was smeared across my face. I realized that I wasn't crying because I was in pain (although I was - like, a lot), but because I was angry. She had come up to me and told me how awful I was right to my face, then defended herself by saying that other people thought so too!

This only made me want to hurt her even more, and I renewed my attempt to reach her. "Alex, stop!" a voice commanded.

I immediately recognized the voice and dropped back. I heard whoever was holding me sigh in relief, and even felt them relax their grip. They didn't let go, though. I blinked tears out of my eyes and looked toward where the voice had come from.

Standing by the door and looking absolutely gobsmacked was Niall. He strode over to me, shooing away the person who had held my hips. They reentered the crowd before I could get a good look at them, so I just turned to Niall. He stood before me with his hands on his hips, a look of shock and disappointment in his eyes.

I began wipe tears from my eyes but my hand brushed one of the scratches the girl had made and it stung awfully, so I stopped. Niall said, "I can't believe this, Alex. You're lucky I got here before someone called the cops. Go and get in the car, we're leaving."

He apologized to everyone in the room, including the girl I had fought. She and everyone else just stared at him with huge eyes. What do you expect from a teenage girl who was obviously a big "fan" of Niall?

The ride to the hotel was short and silent. It was literally around the corner from the Starbucks we had been at. I said nothing to Niall, fearing that he would angrily snap and start yelling at me. Once we were out of the car and in the hotel's elevator, though, I felt like I should say something. At least an apology.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered, almost inaudibly. "I didn't mean to start a fight, Ni - you didn't hear what she was saying to me. You'd understand if you had been there-"

"Don't make excuses, Al," Niall interrupted. "There is no reason to get in a fight like that. I don't want to sound like your father or something, but you have no idea how worried about you I was - and still am. When you walk into a room to find someone you love dripping blood, it kind of freaks you out. I'm sorry for yelling, but that was just not okay. You should have walked away when things turned sour."
