I sat anxiously tapping the side of my bed as I waited for Louis to show up. Harry had gone out again - I wasn't sure where to, because when I had asked he hadn't answered. Right now I was pretty sure he was just mad about the bad publicity he would get from punching that guy, but I would have to see what Lou thought.
Just then, there was a knock at the hotel room door. I jumped up and ran over to it, flinging it open. Louis smiled brightly at me from the other side and held up a little cat. I beamed and took Sugar from him, hugging her tight to my chest.
"Thanks for coming, Lou Bear," I said, leading him to the couch. "And thanks for bringing Sugar, I've missed this kitten." I kissed her on the head, then sat on a cushion. Louis sat at the chair in front of me and mockingly folded his hands in his lap. He sat on the edge of his seat, with his back straight and his legs crossed.
"Alexandra dear," he said, "How can I be of assistance today?" I rolled my eyes, but decided that I would tell him everything that had happened.
After explaining what had happened while we were out shopping, I sighed, "And now he won't talk to me. I think... I think he's upset that the story will spread and people won't be happy. And... it's kind of my fault. Louis, he just walked out of the hotel. I have no idea where he went, and if he's not back in an hour I'm calling someone."
Louis frowned as he thought about what I had said. I stroked Sugar's back, carefully watching his expression. There wasn't even the trace of a smile, and usual humor and jokes were totally gone. I was really worried by that.
"Al, I don't know what to say about that... I do know that you shouldn't feel like it's your fault, though. It was your fight and he decided to join it. You shouldn't have been fighting again, Alex." I dropped my gaze to the floor, ashamed about getting fights two days in a row.
Louis continued, "I still don't get why he wouldn't talk to you about it. Harry isn't really the kind of person to run from his problems, so this is weird. Don't be so worried, though, he's a big boy and he can handle himself."
That's just what I'm afraid of, I thought nervously. It wasn't like I thought Harry would get lost or kidnapped or something, but what if he got in another fight? What if he was so mad that he just went back to London? No, he wouldn't do that. Would he? It was possible, I didn't really know just how mad he was.
"I'm just confused," I said quietly. Louis nodded understandingly. "I'm sorry I'm bugging you with my problems, Lou, you shouldn't have to deal with this. If you want to leave it's okay-" I stood up to show him to the door, but he stopped me.
He laughed, "I don't want to leave, Al Berry! It's okay, you don't have to worry about me. You need someone to talk to and I'm glad I could be that someone. Now, I know you don't want to, but we need to talk about Simon and what happened on Ellen's show." I wanted to protest, but I knew we'd have to talk about it sooner or later.
"Okay," I sighed. "Okay, let's talk."
Louis slowly asked, "When's the last time you talked to your father?" I frowned, because I wasn't really sure. I had ignored all of his calls ever since the show, so I guess that had been the last time we spoke.
"...Two days ago... kind of."
"Alex..." Louis breathed, covering his tired face with his hands. "Do you have any idea how worried he probably is? His daughter is in another country, and the last time he saw her was when her biggest secret was exposed on television. That's not comforting! You have to call him, okay? And I think you should have the rest of the boys over."
I nodded and said, "I know, I feel bad. Maybe I'll call him later, but I don't see the point. And Lou Bear, why would I invite the rest of the boys?"
