Inner Demons

Not long ago, there was a man,
He was quite mad, yet wonderful all the same,
Two hearts he carried, increasing his burden,
Each day he would wake,
To battle his inner demons.

Eleventh was his face, the last of his kind,
An ancient Time Lord, brilliant and sad,
He met his doom with a mysterious "she,"
Her curse breaking him bit by bit.
Immortality bleeding him dry.

One by one, he saw his friends,
His companions,
And those who died,
Before his very eyes,
And each came with their own words to say.

He ran, as he always does,
He tries to hide,
But Rose waits for him,
Hidden in the shadows.
Blinking, nothing more than a ghost.

Out abroad once again,
A golden mirror, revealing his sins,
Ten, and nine, and those before,
Each with their hidden lore,
Of times gone wrong, and memories tainted.

An infinite time, with a curse from death,
Initiate protocol 9, nothing left to say,
All those who he had wronged,
Everyone who had died,
There's no mystery as to why he didn't die brave.

A gun to the collar bone, once again it fires,
And down falls, the last of the Time Lords,
His legacy gone, his time at a close.
Her work was done, her revenge sealed.
And in the night, her grin showed.

This poem is dedicated to CaptainJackAttack, because of her wonderful short story, "Inner Demons." This poem was inspired by it, and though it isn't as good as the fan fiction, I hope you've enjoyed it, and possibly check out the story it's based off of!
