Beatrice

I woke up and I was ready to go; too ready, if you asked me. I put on my contacts and my wig. Yes, I still wore the wig. I plan that when I get to New York, I'll take it off; time for a bit of change. My dad had planned all the things I needed and gave me an apartment with the most gorgeous view. I loved dad.

I went to the first floor, dad was sitting on the couch. He was talking to someone on the phone. When he hung up, I walked towards him.

"Dad, I'm gonna go now. Tell Josh and Aunt I said goodbye." I call my stepmom Aunt. Never, i repeat, never will I call her mom. "I'm gonna miss you. See you in a few months." I said.

He sighed "Beatrice be careful, okay? I'm gonna miss you too. I've made all the arrangements already. There will be a cab that will take you to your apartment. Don't forget to call, okay?" He said.

"I will don't worry. Bye dad. Love you" I said as I kissed his cheek.

"Bye, love you too." he said as he kissed my forehead

I got onto the plane and sat on my seat. I felt, sick sitting on the out seat. The two seats there were empty. I never did like the outer one so I sat on the window seat.

A guy walked in and said "Excuse me, you're on my seat."

"I'm sorry, could we exchange? I get dizzy on the outer seat." I said.

"Yeah. Sure. Whatever." He sighed as he shrugged and sat down. "Thank you so much." He didn't spare me a second glance. I am eternally grateful but he could be a tad bit less rude.

I glanced at him and started scanning him from head to toe. Clean cut hair, expensive perfume, newly shined shoes, and an even more expensive watch. He looked like a CEO, but there is a glint of mischievousness in his eyes. A little too mischievous for a businessman. Whatever his line of work, he is a powerful person. He has the arrogance befitting a prominent person. Blue eyes, brown hair. He was beautiful. If only he weren't such a jerk. You took his seat, you shouldn't be complaining!

I shut up my thoughts and looked out the window. One last look. This was my adventure. The plane already took off. I was getting dizzy my hands were shaking. I glanced at the guy sitting next to me. My hands itched to take the wig off. No one would know  me here. It'll be alright. I hesitantly took off my wig and contacts. Trust me, it wasn't easy getting the contacts off.

"Scared of plane rides, I see." He smirked. "A wig? What, you like to change your hair color? Honey, there's something called dye now." he said smugly. Jerk!

"That is none of your concern." I said shutting my eyes and clasping my hands together to prevent them from shaking. I calmed down when we were a bit stable.

"New York is a big state for a little girl like you." He said. Mean!

"Little girl? I'm like the same age as you!" I said, annoyed. Is this his idea of small talk? Because it's more like: 'Insult the girl next to you' talk.

"Oh really I'm 19 years old. How old are you" he said raising an eyebrow. Freak.

"18 and very legal, thank you very much." I said.

"So? That doesn't prove anything. You are still little. What are you 5'2?" he asked smirking. Douche!

"5'5 to be exact." But nothing in comparison to his tall stature.

After a few hours of him bugging me, I put on my earphones and ignored him.

"Hey!" he said. Ignore..

"Hey?" he said. Ignore..!

"Hey" he poked my shoulder. IGNORE.

"Hey!!" he said still poking my shoulder. IGNORE!!!

"You alive?" He asked. Stupid.

"What. Do. You. Want." I said through gritted teeth.

"Chill, I was just gonna ask what your name was." He said smiling innocently. Totally annoying.

"No one of importance. Please, I am trying to have a good flight." I said and added, "in silence" I snapped at him. He was really getting in my nerves.

After that thank goodness he kept quiet. We were about to land then he spoke:

"Can't you just tell me? Is it that hard to say your name, jeez." He said slightly annoyed.

I guess I was being a bit too harsh. I don't usually snap at people. It must be the thought of being high up in the sky. For some reason, I didn't want to tell him my real name. I want to become someone else on this trip. Someone bold and confident. Someone who wouldn't care about what other people thought.

And so, I gave him a name.

"Megan, Megan Block. Whats yours?"

"Logan, Logan Clark" he said. Familiar name.. Oh well.

We landed and I am freaking out. I am in New York! I got my things and walked outside. I saw a woman in her twenties with red hair. She held a sign with my name. No, not Megan Block. My real name Beatrice Summers. I walked towards her with a smile.

"Hello, I'm Stacey White. You must be Beatrice. Nice to meet you. My father got sick so I'll be driving you to your apartment." She said smiling.

"Oh. I hope your father's alright. You should just go home and take care of him. Just give me a map and I can manage." I told her smiling.

"Nonsense. It's just a flu. Now let's go and I'll show you the way to your apartment." She said joyfully. I gave her a smile and followed her to a cab. The city was beautiful. I stared out the window the whole time. When I arrived at the apartment, I gave her my phone number so that if I needed help with anything, I could just ask her.

My apartment was beautifully painted. It had a piece of land right next to it, that is filled with  flowers and trees of different variants. It was bursting with color. Could this be a good sign?

I went upstairs to my apartment. I love it. There was a glass door that led towards a balcony. There was a small kitchen and two bedrooms. I went to the bigger one and unpacked my things. The apartment had a piano. That was how big it was. It could fit a piano. I used to love playing the piano, but then I found out that my mother also played the piano. I haven't touched it since. Clever, my dad was. He was trying to get me to play again.

I touched the keys. How nostalgic. I remember when I started playing. I loved it. I guess I still do. I played the piano. My mind was blank, my heart was calm, and everything in that moment felt beautiful.

It was already 5:30 in the afternoon when I realized that I had been playing for awhile now. I have not changed a bit because I still got lost in time when I played.

I was still tired from the plane ride because of the passenger who sat next to me. I have a lot of time to explore, but for now, I'm gonna  have dinner and then get some sleep.
