Piper's POV

I walked into my first class, which so happened to be with Annabeth, Leo, and Jason. Jason had already gotten there before us, he flashed his pearly whites at me and I couldn't help the smile that spread across my lips.

Although, I couldn't help but notice that strange girl's obsidian vulture-like eyes staring at Jason like she'd jump him any second. It bothered me, but I wasn't about to tell anyone about that.

She caught me staring and gave me a murderous glare as to stay away from Jason, like she was staking some kind of claim on him. I knew exactly how I could bother her and felt a smirk form on my lips.

Gods, I've never felt so sneaky and devious before. Was I jealous?

I hung dangly things from trees as me, Annabeth, and Calypso decorated for the dance. I wasn't exactly sure what our theme was, I think it was some kind of an autumn type thing. But it looked amazing anyway.

Annabeth, Calypso, and I were chatting amongst our selves about what we would be wearing and who we hoped would bring us, when a loud voice echoed through the hall.

"I hate this place, it was probably one of those rats who set the school on fire anyway." I was surprised by the snobby feminine voice talking trash about us and the school.

Yes I said us. At half-blood high everybody knew everybody. We might not all be close be we were still friends. That's how things worked here. It was like one big happy family. Everybody always felt welcomed here, and to hear some prissy Jupiter Academy kid talk that way made me angry.

And I was pretty sure it made Annabeth pretty angry as well. "That's it. I've had it with them. Every one here is being so nice trying to make them feel welcome and all they do is talk bad about us." Annabeth whisper yelled so they wouldn't hear.

Annabeth began making her way to the corridor but I stopped her. "Let's just ignore them for now, okay? We'll only make it worse by confronting them. I promise if they keep it up I'll let you have at 'em."

Annabeth frustratedly sighed but went back to putting together the flowery bouquets.

I could only hope they'd be gone within the year.
